Hi! My home is a cozy rambler in Northwest Minneapolis. My decor is a mix of modern farmhouse and honestly just Grandma's house lol. It is in the Shingle Creek neighborhood, which is the most NW neighborhood. For me, as a homeowner, it's a gem of a neighborhood - quiet, lowkey, but still vibrant and not sterile like a suburban neighborhood.
I am offering my guest bedroom, which has a pull-out futon. This is not your college futon - it is really comfortable! If you need more than one bedroom for a group, we can discuss additional sleeping options.
I am going to mark "gym" as I do have a treadmill, exercise bike, and sauna. The sauna is great for cold Minnesota winters!
I have one outdoor parking spot at the moment. I do have a garage; if you need indoor parking (such as charging an electric car) please let me know so I can get it ready.
A few other notes... I have solar panels on my house, and I compost, so I request visitors really try to be eco-friendly with me! My basic expectations are that you help with recycling, making an effort at composting, and helping me conserve energy by shutting off the lights and things like that.
I am recovering from surgery on my foot, so I will probably be in the living room recliner or office most of the time. I am doing this listing not only for the income but to combat some of the loneliness of recovering from surgery. If you are COVID-cautious, I am happy to mask. I am sober, but if you want a beer with dinner or THC outside (since it is legal here), that is fine :)
One HUGE thing... I do have a dog and she is excitable especially around women - she is a real girls' girl! But I have worked with her so much, particularly as I have had so many visitors coming to my home to assist me with recovering from surgery. She does not go into the bedrooms and mostly hangs out in the living room area.
I have traveled a lot and couchsurfed in a lot of countries, so I really understand what you need as a traveler! I am just a natural caretaker, and I love to host people. If I am home, I will probably just jump to taking care of you like you are at a bed and breakfast. I have lived in 5 countries (besides USA) and traveled to ~25. I have studied Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
I am also marking myself as near LGBTQ+ scene as I am a 5-10min, 15min max Uber to gay bars, etc. I also have good public transit access to go downtown.
Please message me if you have any other questions! I look forward to hosting you!
*I do have security cameras at both front/back doors, above the garage door, and facing the backyard. There are no security cameras anywhere in the house.

Most guys want to know how far I am from downtown where all the gay bars are. It's about a 10-15 minute drive or Uber depending on which bar you are going to. If Uber isn't on some kind of crazy surge pricing, it should be about $15.
Hi! I had surgery in the last year (doing much better), but please pretend staying with your sweet Grandma and be as helpful as possible. Please tidy your room as best as you can at the end of your stay, and put used towels, wash clothes, and sheets in or on top of your bed before you leave. The rest of my rules mainly resolve around substance use and social/environmental justice: You can drink beer or wine only; I am 7.5 years sober, but alcohol wasn't my issue. I would like to avoid people getting wasted at my house. It should go without saying that illegal drugs are not allowed. Cannabis is legal in Minnesota, and I ask that you smoke that outside in the backyard or downstairs in the TV area ONLY. You are welcome to vape anything throughout the house. I am pro-poppers :p but if you spill them please let me know... we are adults here! No racism, you wouldn't believe how many people like co-workers think it's ok to vent about "those minorities" who blah blah blah and I am not here for it. My pronouns are he/him; please tell me your pronouns so I don't assume incorrectly. I have solar panels so PLEASE help me save energy by shutting lights off when you exit a room. I also recycle and compost so please make a good faith effort at sorting your trash while you are here. My dog is energetic and playful, and while I have worked with her a lot, she is not perfect. She will want your attention and may jump. If you push her down or away from you she will think it's a game. The fool proof method to get her to stop is to actually make fists like you are going to box her. We started doing this when she was young because she was rambunctious when she gave love bites and the trainer said to bring fists to your face to show her that the fun stops when she gets crazy. For most people that is not very intuitive but I swear once you see it you will understand how well it works!

The place was just as pictured and described. Clean, nicely furnished, very comfortable. Quiet Neighborhood. Shopping/restaurants were a bit too far to walk to but only a few minutes drive away. Jonathan was friendly & easy to talk to and his dog was a delight.
Great place if you like dogs!
My stay here was wonderful. Jonathan greeted me warmly and we had great conversation. He also gave me great information about the city, where to park and restaurants. Highly recommended.
Thank you so much, Scott! I enjoyed getting to know you, and I'm glad I could make navigating Minneapolis easier for you! 💛
An amazing host, i wish I could've stayed longer!
💛💛💛
Idyllic neighborhood setting right outside of the hustle and bustle of the city. If you're a dog lover- this is the place! Sweetest pup ever with such an accommodating host. I really enjoyed my time here!
Awe, thank you so much Derek 💛 I had such a great time at Mall of America with you!
I had an excellent stay with Jonathan! Came just one night for a concert in St. Paul and this was the best option to stay. Jonathan made the stay as comfortable as possible and I had all the flexibility to come and go as I needed. He even picked up some coffee for me to have in the morning! Perfect if you don't mind a little drive into the city in a quiet and comfortable neighborhood
Jonathan was an excellent host. Answered all my questions, was helpful on check in, and assisted even when he was not in town. If you're looking for a quiet place with a great host, I definitely recommend.
