For those who love art, culture, the beach and good restaurants, Sarasota is undoubtedly a gay friendly destination to discover. Located in the state of Florida, it is easily accessible from New York, as the Sarasota airport serves this important city. Forts Myers or Tampa Bay are very close to this region of Florida and are easily accessible by land.

Sarasota consists of the city and eight small islands. The place is so charming that you can spend a week or several months to avoid the winter.

Sophisticated, the city of Sarasota has always had a reputation for its art galleries and its Opera House. Many travelers from Tampa Bay come to see the Symphony Orchestra or the Ballet because of the reputation that Sarasota has built up over the years.

Cultural heritage has become one of the city's most important sources of revenue. Several years ago, Sarasota had no real competition among other Florida cities when it came to culture. Knowing that tourists are looking for this aspect, it has had to double its offerings.

If art has long dominated the city's image, culture has also made its place. The Sarasota Film Festival attracts many tourists and curious people every year to see the biggest stars of today's cinema.

Sarasota's Gay Community
The population of the city of Sarasota has become very diverse. The gay and lesbian community is becoming more and more significant. Having a very artistic touch, Sarasota has always attracted this clientele. In recent years, the gay and lesbian community has become more established. Last year, 3,000 new homosexuals moved to Sarasota to make a life here.

Sarasota's Gay Pride Walk is growing with the new arrivals. With the warmth and beautiful weather, June was the perfect time to hold the main gay event of the year.

The demographics of gay men living in Sarasota have changed dramatically in recent years. Today, gays and lesbians are between the ages of 30 and 40. New jobs and coming out late are two main reasons why the age is between these waters.

Quiet life for homosexuals
Life seems peaceful for homosexuals living in this part of the world. Hate crimes seem to be a rare occurrence. Hate crimes are rarely reported to the police, which suggests that homophobia in Sarasota is not a common occurrence.

In recent years, newspapers and other media have not reported these types of crimes in their headlines despite the high rate of homophobia that America has experienced in recent months.

Gay nightlife in Sarasota
Even though the city is booming for its gay and lesbian community, there are only two bars for the community. Like many cities around the world, there is a certain "come and go" in the gay bar scene. Sarasota is also experiencing this trend.

Years ago, Sarasota had many more gay bars and clubs. The economic climate has changed, with only two remaining. There is no reason to believe that a new bar will not open in the next year.
