We have hosted guests from 29 countries and all 50 states. We invite anyone to stay with us and feel welcome!

Guests are welcome to stay overnight on our 172 acre farm, either in the farm cottage that sleeps two or our farm house that sleeps up to six, offering a retreat from city life, country quiet, trails for hiking, the beautiful San Gabriel River forming the north one mile border of our property, and lots of room to roam. The river is not visible from the home, but is a 5-minute walk through the pecan orchard, or a short drive through the pasture.

Both homes have wood-burning fireplaces and fire pits. We supply a large amount of free firewood and additional is available for purchase.

We have had many guests spend 4-12 weeks with us as they worked from home and/or home schooled. Both homes have a desk and work area. The internet tower is in our top pasture, so free high-speed internet is available.

Activities can include animal feedings, egg collection, and any of our farm chores that interest you; however, participation is always optional! Enjoy the peace and quiet, tubing the river, fishing and seeing the many fossils in the river limestone banks.

Both the cottage and farm house stays include a batch of from-scratch homemade muffins of your choice. They will be made with real butter and eggs from my free-range chickens. Banana with or without pecans, Blueberry, or Chocolate Chip with or without pecans. We provide basics such as sugar, salt & pepper, seasonings, coffee, and a variety of hot teas. You are more than welcome to source eggs and other produce from us, as available, to add to your meals.

I love giving free tours of the farm. I will show you where the animals and feed are, the river, hiking areas, and answer any questions you might have.

The farm house garage has been made into a playroom for children. It has a queen futon and plenty of toys. Children have loved having this area to enjoy. The yard has a big swing adults and children alike have enjoyed.

There is a one-time $70 pet fee. Guests' pets enjoy the farm as much as they do, being able to explore the farm off leash. Furniture covers provided for those pets that enjoy being comfortable.

Smoking is NOT allowed in the homes, but is allowed outdoors. Guests have loved using the farm as a peaceful getaway with plenty to do right on the farm, and also as a base for taking day trips around central Texas and the Hill Country.

I grew up on a small five-acre farm and we produced the majority of food for our family of seven. Summers were spent shucking corn, shelling peas, snapping beans, peeling fruit and canning 200 quarts of everything. We raised chickens for meat and eggs, and cows for milk, butter and beef. When I graduated from high school, I couldn't wait to leave the farm and went to Baylor. After a few years living in Waco, Abilene and Austin, I couldn't wait to move back to the country!! Dan had always been a city boy and his mom really worried about him moving to the country. My Dad could do anything and he was a great teacher for Dan. After my Dad died in 1986 we began acquiring the farm. When my Mom died in 2010 we owned all but the six acres around their home (Rocky Overlook) and her art studio (Palette Pad). I inherited the homes and my siblings got the money. Mama knew we would want to stay on the farm. My sisters helped me remodel the homes and furnish them. I decided to do short-term rentals and make farm stays out of them, rather than rent them long term. Am I glad I made that decision! I have hosted guests from 25 countries and all 50 states. We have loved meeting everyone and have made many friends. Now a majority of my rentals are from repeat guests - some have come as many as 10 times! During the summer we have large gardens and I even plant a kitchen garden at the guest houses for guests to enjoy. Guests enjoy the free tours I give. Many have a lot of questions about farming, gardening, and raising animals, Once they know where everything is on the 172 acre farm, they are welcome to enjoy it.
