The Sprengelkiez is a lovely family and student neighborhood within the Mitte-district. It's the Easternmost part of former West-Berlin so you'll get best of both worlds here. The apartment is located directly by the water which is a great place to start a walk to the Reichstag or Tiergarten (20min). It is central and well connected to the public transport which will get you to any part of Berlin in no time.
