Basically, the whole neighborhood is characterized by the local LGBTQ+ scene. That's why I recommend Mauerpark first. There's always a big flea market here at the weekend and for two days and nights there's super good music from all kinds of different people. During the day, Kohlenquelle is a neighborhood hangout where you can get to know people very quickly. You may well end up spending the night there too. My favorite bar is one of the best-kept secrets: Studio 8 in Wedding (about a 15-minute walk). Fortunately, not many people know about this place and there's always a very illustrious crowd. If you're lucky, there might be a swing evening or an exhibition or someone singing Kurt Weil songs half-naked. Dancing is similarly far from the mainstream at Club Pankeschön, not far from Studio 8.
