A gay museum in San Francisco

basically, San Francisco is already a gay friendly destination to discover. Many gay men return every year because it offers something that many American cities wish they had. San Francisco has long dominated the gay travel market because at one time, only the city of San Francisco was so open.

The gay friendly atmosphere is not limited to the Castro district. The city has added a new initiative to demonstrate its openness to the LGBT community. San Francisco now has its LGBT History Museum.

Created 25 years ago, it is the LGBT Historical Society that is behind this museum idea. The Society's goal is to keep all archives concerning cultural diversity and research. It is the first museum of its kind available in America.

The museum presents the history of the gay community in San Francisco and its impact on the world. The museum is located in the heart of San Francisco's gay neighborhood, Castro. The museum's mission is to welcome residents who live in San Francisco, but also tourists who want to learn more about this sometimes amazing history.

Once inside the museum, you will be able to explore over 1,600 square feet of exhibit space. The history museum is open Wednesday through Sunday.

Harvey Milk
Of course, the museum features several items with the image of the first openly gay city councilman Harvey Milk. Milk's belongings are admired by visitors to the museum. The story of Harvey Milk, who was assassinated in 1978, was the subject of a film that brought his life to the attention of the general public.
