Sitges operates at a scale that should not produce what it does. This is a small Catalan coastal town of under 30,000 permanent residents, 35 minutes south of Barcelona by train - and yet it has one of the most intense gay scenes in Europe, a global reputation that draws visitors from every continent, and a history as an LGBTQ+ resort that stretches back to the 1960s. "Friday, walk the seafront from the church to Terramar to embrace Sitges ambience. Have lunch or dinner in La Fragata or Maricel or El Pinxo, near the church. Saturday is a beach day. Balmins is the nudist gay friendly beach, just few minutes away from downtown. Dinner at Amb Gust, perfect location to catch the gay vibes and move to any of the bars right there. Bear bar is just in front if you are looking for some action. Sunday starts with a recovery breakfast at Montrroig."

Sitges Carnival: February and the great winter party

The Sitges Carnival, held in February, is one of the most spectacular LGBTQ+ events in Spain - and one of the oldest, with a tradition that predates the modern gay rights movement.
