The Reveal

CozyRelaxing

My place is in Highgate. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers, and furry friends (pets). Light breakfast, tea/coffee included. Highgate is a great part of London with Hampstead Heath, Waterlow Park, Kenwood House, Highgate Wood, and world famous Highgate Cemetery are all near. Lots of charming pubs (one every few yards it seems), cafes, and local amenities nearby. 10 mins walk to nearest tube. Highgate is one stop outside zone 2 on Northern Line. Access to West End in about 30 mins from the house. There are 2 bedrooms at the house both on the first floor. The front bedroom is for guests. The guest bathroom is on the ground floor. This is exclusively for your use. A light is on all night to guide so not to worry. You can help yourself to tea/coffee as you wish. There is also a light, self service breakfast ( cereals, toast, drinks) included. Towels, toiletries also included. You are welcome to use the kitchen, living, dining, and outside space as you wish. The courtyard is a real sun trap and is a pleasure to sit in. You can use the living room, dining area, kitchen and outdoor courtyard.

Highgate is noted for its Georgian architecture and charm. It has always felt safe and I have had no problems. the local pubs are historic and have great beers and food. The village has good shops, especially the grocer's and butchers. Lots of parks and woods including Hampstead Heath, Kenwood House, Parkland Walk, Highgate Wood, Waterlow Park, all in easy walking distance. The house is on a tree lined road noted for its varied architecture. Parking 10-12, Mon-Friday is restricted, otherwise no restrictions.

The house is for guests only, please arrange to meet family/friends away from the house, thanks. Double lock the front door in evening and at night. I don't smoke, but do not mind smoking in the living area or outside, but please not in the bedroom. Please respect the house as my home. Of course you can come and go as you please, but be considerate after 10.30pm by keeping noise down for me and my neighbours. Thanks. This house is pet friendly, but please note that you will need to discuss this with me beforehand.

Mike's guest room is very comfortable with a comfortable double bed, a good WiFi connection, a table with a small flat screen T.V. that works well and electric outlets as well as a window that looks out onto a usually quiet residential street from the upper floor of the house. The entire house is very clean and attractive with a nice terrace backyard behind the house which unfortunately I could not use very much due to unseasonal cool, rainy weather during much of my stay in early July. The bathroom set aside for exclusive use by the guest is very clean, located just off the kitchen/dining area on the ground floor. I used the kitchen to prepare breakfasts and some lunches during my stay. Coffee, tea, bread and cereal were provided. I was able to store some food in the refrigerator which was very convenient. Highgate Underground Station is only a 6-7 min. walk away from the house which is located in a pleasant, very green part of north London. Mike, the host, communicated well up to check-in, we had a nice and interesting chat about all sorts of things the day of my arrival, and I offered him some support when he revealed that his beloved dog named Sausage was ill. After my first of 8 days at Mike's place, he kept to himself mostly the rest of the time, seeming to prefer very little communication from then onwards which was a bit surprising. I tried to make a bit of friendly conversation a few times when we saw one another but Mike seemed to want very little interaction even when he was relaxing in the living room so I left him his space, using only the kitchen when needed. I recommend this guest accommodation for comfort, convenience and if you don't mind having very little interaction with the host after your day of arrival. However, it is possible that the grieving process for Mike's pet dog influenced his moods during my stay. As a pet lover, I can understand that well, if that was the case.

Mike has an amazing space. Though I did not get a chance to chat with him as much as I would have liked, those few time I interacted with him were very pleasant. He is very kind and available. Also, he has the kindest dog!

Mike is an excellent host, always available for any questions about the city or his house. Spacious room, super comfortable bed, large sink for our exclusive use. The dog is a charm and very sociable. Thank you Mike for the wonderful stay at your house... and if I return to London again, I won't hesitate to stay there again.

Mike is truly an English gentleman and Marley is an added bonus. He went out of his way to make sure I had a great stay. The house is open and airy and full of light and very clean. He wants to make sure your London experience is brilliant. Highgate is beautiful and leafy will definitely be back for a cuppa

Mike is a great host and prompt with communication. He and his cute dog gave a friendly welcome. The space was nice and clean and easy to get to via the tube; we just made sure we caught at least the last train back from central London at night. Easy to get to the airport. Wish we had more time to explore the area. Camden Market in only a few stations away to enjoy a picturesque riverwalk!
