Unfortunately this was a pretty negative experience at this location. We arrived at the place to find no hot water and no gas. Even though the host said that the offer to use the kitchen was a nice gesture on his part, we still were expecting to have hot water to shower and wash our hands, etc. When asked, the host said that Mexicans don't use hot water. My response was to tell the host that I have never in 25 years of coming to Mexico and Puerto Vallarta have I experienced any place without hot water. After three days without hot water and gas, another guest who spoke Spanish came into the house and got the host to ******** the money needed to have the gas tank paid for and brought to the apartment for hook up. This is after the host had claimed that he had already paid for the gas tank to be delivered. The apartment was not very clean and without any extra clean linen, toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen supplies and bathroom hand towels. We bought toilet paper, paper towels, sponges and kitchen supplies to keep the place tidy. I know this is my first negative review I have given. I know I will probably be attacked for speaking my truth. Never again would I stay at this Mister B&B location not being made aware of the constant cocks crowing and dogs barking throughout the week.
Unfortunately this guest was unbearable. First he calls my private number days before his arrival, which it clearly states to contact me thru the app only unless urgent. Then he arrives and decided to add I was already going thru from a serious slip on ice. Yes I was in pain! And yes I DID PAY MY CLEANING MAN A WEEK BEFORE FOR GAS! I do not LIE!! I had no idea from him or my guest that there still was no gas for a week! a guest did exactly like any other guest could have done! I said a lot of people DO NOT HAVE HOT WATER IN THEIR KITCHEN SINK! And soap and water kills any bacteria!
Very close to bars and restaurants, not much of the beach, but Uber solves it.
Thank you Alejandro for your review. We appreciated you. We hope you come back and stay with us soon. I am glad you enjoyed the closeness and ambience of Casa AltaVista and found everything you needed. Yes, it is about six blocks to the beach but on the way back if your sunburn or tired or drunk it could be a long walk I do it but like I said Uber is cheap and the last black and half is kind of a pit is uphill so I usually walk down and sometimes Uber back not often but sometimes. I like the exercise.
I lived through a nightmare The stove was not working No hot water 4 days without electricity No restaurants nearby A hill of more than 40 degrees to reach the house The kitchen had a cleanliness that left much to be desired No hot water to do the dishes Since there was no electricity I lost my food that was in the refrigerator This was the first time I used Mister B&B services I had to leave before the end of my reservation because there was no electricity after 3 days and no one to restore it That's my first experience with Mister B&B As well as Dewaine who lives in Texas Now I'll let you draw your own conclusions this is a beautiful loss of about 500 dollars plus all the troubles and inconveniences.....
Well Daniel did have gas water heater, gas stove, the entire house to hisself, the rate was 1/2 of what it usually is because I was not there. He also let a local sleep in another one of my bedrooms he did nit pay for!! As soon as he contacted me about the electric o tried to rectify it. The bill was overlooked by my cleaner and t was only $28. Si I asked Daniel to give me a picture of then I'll do I could get the. Barcode number which I have to have to pay online. All sites clearly state a Uber or Taxi is only ($2.50 US/50 pesos 🤪
DeWayne (remotely) and the other roommates were super welcoming and accommodating. The room is very spacious and the fan is silent. There's a nice view of the city and Banderas Bay right outside the room. I didn't mind walking up the street to get there. The house was always cool (it was in February), so I didn't mind that there was no A/C. Most nights were quiet in the neighbourhood but not all. Downsides: neighbourhood noise, thin old windows, no A/C.
Thank you Eric we appreciate your guys visit, and hope you come back to stay again in the near future. Yes the winter months are cool, And as far as AC I have a portable Unit for a small nightly fee. I have to say that Altavista is one of the quietest neighborhoods including All areas of Zona Romantica . As far as the Thin windows go I am reluctant to replace any windows as Casa AltaVista to take away from the ambience. if you close the windows and curtains, turn on fans you will get the cool breeze from the courtyard and landing and noise level down 30%.
Great location on a budget. 10 minute walk to the 'gay' zone - steep hill, but Uber is cheap if you have knee/hip issues. Victor, who also lives there is a great massage therapist and barber. I had two massages during my stay.
Thanks guys for your stay. I am glad you appreciate historic Casa Alta Vista. We work hard to make sure our guest are comfortable and have everything they need. I am constantly upgrading the casa without taking away from its charm as a Mexican Open Air Casa, such as tables in the bedrooms, large table on the landing for coffee and fireworks, and a new microwave on the way. It can be a hard walk up hill the last block, but the good thing is that the view is spectacular! Thank god for Uber/Taxis that are usually $50 pesos/ $2.50 US anywhere in Zona Romantica 👍🏼
Great big room just few blocks from the Beach and zona Romantica, yep it is a lil hike but i like working out so it was no problem for me I totally recommend this place ! Thanks Dewayne and Victor !
Thank you Paulo,, we look forward to your visit again in the near future. Yes Casa Alta Vista is a few blocks from the beach (4-6) and the bars in a quiet neighborhood but close to everything it's a nice walk or if you are just totally lazy like some people lol it's only a $2.50 Cent taxi or Uber ride anywhere in the area! Sometimes I will walk down to the beach and taxi or Uber back.😁. Thanks DeWayne
The house is 10min walk to the night bars and a nice 20min walk to the Muertos beach. Beware the final 100 Mts are on a steep street, if that's an issue for you be prepare to Uber! I never met the owner but he was helpful and communicative. The room is very spacious, and could easily be improved with little details.
Even though we didn’t get to meet Dewayne, he left was clear check in instructions. The room was large and comfortable with a double bed a dresser with mirror and closet space. The kitchen and bathroom areas were shared. Location was great but for those with mobility issues beware the last 200 m steep climb to the house as we called back break hill. Lol. Just had some issues with shutting the room door which needed some repairs as it was jamming and needed to be pulled with force to shut it. Apart from that thanks Dewayne for sharing your casa with us and good luck with everything
This property is in a great location, just two blocks off the Puerto Vallarta old town main street. Those last two blocks are up a steep hill so recommend taking a cab when arriving with luggage. The home is quintessential Old Mexico in a quiet locals neighborhood with welcoming and accommodating host. Some renovations are in progress which, when finished will improve the property. It is a great value; I would stay again.
Thank you Rick, we will be looking forward to your return to stay with us again. Thanks again DeWayne
Host Dewayne is very helpful and easygoing. Location is just a few blocks from all the nightlife
Thank you Rick it was a pleasure to host you, and look forward to your next stay with us, so we both can brush up on our Spanish! Jejehe Sasha says hola! 😎
