Spacious flat located in the picturesque Bairro Alto neighbourhood, 2 double bedrooms, offers typical old street views from the small balcony, recently refurbished by ourselves with lots of dedication.
The sofa bed in the living room provides space for two more people. The two bedrooms are interior but have openings on walls, as we have kept the traditional shape of the house, dated from the late 1800's. Both rooms have large double bedrooms, fresh sheets and towels provided to all guests.
Bairro Alto is known for it's restaurants, bars and fado houses. Here you can enjoy a walk through the old cobbled streets, eat proper traditional portuguese food and listen to some fado. In the evening, specially during the weekends, the streets can get a little crowded with a mix of locals and tourists enjoying a few drinks. Most of Lisbon's best gay bars are just located around the corner, gay sauna for the interested one is literally the next building. All major gay clubs are at walking distance except Lux. Really near Chiado, Restauradores, Avenida da Liberdade, Rossio and Baixa-Chiado Station and Principe Real, the gay quarter. Beach 19, the famous sand dune kissed gay beach isn't that far either, specially if you drive.
The flat is located on the 3rd floor, no lift access, and therefore is bright for the traditional narrow streets around.

Busy gay bars after 12am, great portuguese restaurants serving food until late, lovely bakeries, beautiful views of the city, incredible museums, and the great custard tarts "pastel de nata" just down the road!! Everything that’s important to visit it’s just around the corner!!
Bairro Alto streets are very lively at night and can be noisy at times. Bars and some restaurants stay open until 2am during week days and 3am at the weekends. Please bare this in mind when booking to stay over. We rarely have complaints because people know what to expect from the beautiful neighbourhood.
Leave windows closed and lock the flat door when you leave. Bulding entrance door must be left closed at all times. Hot water is supplied by a gas canister. If for some reason the gas finishes contact us so a new one can be delivered before 10pm. Please note that at check in you must pay the tourist tax of €2 per person per night and is a requirement from Lisbon local authority. In the meantime could you please provide all guests informations for the Portuguese immigration office: * full name * date of birth * birth city * ID/passport number * country of ID/passport issue * nationality * country of residence * address To be sent to me by message please. Thank you Diogo

It's a pleasant, welcoming, and clean space. The bathroom and kitchen are very spacious, which is not the case with the bedrooms where beds barely fit, there are no closets, so the living room space and furniture must be used to store clothes. It's an authentic traditional building with wooden stairs and narrow staircase space. Not recommended if you travel with large suitcases, only suitable for travelers with cabin luggage and backpacks. There's a portable air conditioning unit, but it's in the kitchen and far from the bedrooms. You're asked to avoid noise from footsteps on the old wooden floor from 8:00 pm to 8:00 am, but the wood creaks anyway even if you tiptoe.
Very easy place to reach. All info was given within the needed time. Appartement was spacious and had all the necesarry tools to stay. Would book again.
Enjoyed our stay at Bairro Alto Lisboa Oak Valley Flats. Diogo was always there to help with any questions that we had and after check in sent us a long list of restaurants and clubs in the area that gave us recommendations on which were the best to check out. The apartment was a basic old style apartment which was clean and had all the things that we needed for our stay. I would say that the only problems that we had, as we were two elderly men, was the fact that the apartment had no elevator and the steps to the third floor were steep and also that uber was not available for pickup in this neighborhood. If we made an appointment with uber for pickup at a local church for a specific time the price was 5 times higher than if the uber driver was able to pick up at the apartment (4 euros, as opposed to 20 euros for meet at the church). Coming back we were able to use local restaurant wifi to call uber for a cost of 4 euros to let us off at the church. Other than these somewhat minor issues our stay at this apartment was fine. As long as you have no issues with climbing stairs and hills this apartment is good for the price.
Beautiful, clean and centrally located apartment. Diogo was a great host and provided some really helpful local recommendations for places to visit, eat or have a drink at. The apartment is located in a very noisy, boisterous area, as described in the listing. We love to go out at night but didn't actually like the bars or hordes of tourists in this particular area, so ended spending more time at night in different parts of Lisbon instead
Very nice location, fantastic service. Be aware however of the noise till 2 or 3am. The street is full of life with its bars and restaurants.
This apartment is in a GREAT location in Lisbon. We could walk almost anywhere and able to catch transportation is very close. Three of us stayed and had a lovely time! Will definitely be back as Lisbon is very welcoming!
Great apartment and Didi is a great host. Super friendly and very communicative. The location is VERY central - right in the thick of lots of bars and restaurants. It's a pretty noisy pedestrian street at night with all the revelers, but it's on the 3rd floor and shutting the window keeps the noise down. (I sleep soundly, so the all-night party noise didn't bother me). Thanks, Didi - wonderful place!
Wonderful apartment and wonderful host. The apartment is located in Bairro Alto, a super nice nightlife district that is especially very lively on weekends. Lots of nice pubs and clubs, and the gay bars and a sauna are just around the corner. The apartment is super clean and very well equipped. Didi gave us a warm welcome and provided great tips around Lisbon. A host just as you would wish for. All in all, a fantastic stay.
The host has canceled a booking 8 days prior to arrival.
