The Reveal

Near LGBTQ+ SceneCozyRelaxingCentral location

We’re opening up the spare room in our two-bedroom apartment in Green Point, Cape Town. It’s an easy, central base for actually experiencing the city, not just sleeping in it.

This is our home. It’s comfortable, lived-in, full of plants, good coffee, and the occasional bottle of wine.

The room

A calm, comfy double room with:

- Fresh linen & towels - Proper storage - A small desk if you’re working or pretending to

Quiet, comfortable, and genuinely good for sleeping

The shared bits

You’re welcome to use the kitchen and shared fridge space. The kitchen is properly equipped, including an air fryer and Nespresso, and there are usually a few basics around.

The living and dining area is light and relaxed, and the sunroom is a favourite spot for morning coffee or winding down after a day out.

Us

We’re Aaron & Ian, a married couple who travel a lot and enjoy hosting. We’ll be around in the main bedroom, but we’re easy, respectful, and used to sharing space. Chat if you feel like it, disappear if you don’t. We’re also very good at recommendations. Food, beaches, hikes, viewpoints, low-key bars, the lot, if you want them.

Our rhythm

We both work regular Monday to Friday office hours, so things are generally pretty chilled during the week. Evenings are usually low-key. Sunset walks along the promenade, the occasional after-work hike, or a picnic dinner from a nearby viewpoint.

Mornings tend to start early (we try to get to the gym before work), so it suits guests who are happy with a relaxed, lived-in home rather than a midweek party base. Weekends are a little more flexible, as they should be.

Location

Green Point really is ideal:

- Walk to Sea Point Promenade through Green Point Park - De Waterkant and the V&A Waterfront close by - Easy access to beaches, hikes, nightlife, and late-night snacks

A few practical bits

- Fast fibre Wi-Fi - Secure parking for one car (ask if needed) - No smoking inside - Quiet residential building. No parties - No extra guests

A relaxed, welcoming base in a great part of the city, with hosts who get it.

Nearby Attractions

We’re well placed for exploring Cape Town’s queer scene. De Waterkant is a short walk or a quick Uber away and is home to most of the city’s LGBTQ+ nightlife and café culture.

A few favourites nearby:

Café Manhattan for an easy drink, people-watching, and reliably good burgers

Beefcakes for cocktails, drag, and unapologetic camp

Pink Panther for late-night dancing and strong drinks

Versatile for something a bit more underground and all-inclusive

Crew Bar for themed nights and a lively mixed crowd

Modular, not a gay venue as such, but a solid bet for an inclusive techno night

Beyond nightlife, Cape Town is generally open-minded and welcoming, with seasonal queer events like Mother City Queer Project (MCQP) and Cape Town Pride adding to the mix. Whether you’re here for a big night out or just want to feel at ease being yourself, this is an easy place to be based.

The apartment is clean, organized, and very well located. It has everything needed to be comfortable. Aaron always responded promptly and gave great advice for visiting the destination as a tourist. It has 1 parking space if you need it.

Staying hosts Aaron & Ian was like staying with old friends. Their comfortable, artful apartment is within walking distance of parks, the promenade, the beach, the Waterfront, and the gayborhood. The guys were always available to answer a question, compare experiences, and help make sense of an amazing city perched on the end of the earth that is diverse, entertaining, delectable, and complicated. I had a wonderful visit to Cape Town and Green Point and look forward to returning again!

‘Stay with friendly locals...’ This listing does exactly what it says on the tin. Aaron and Ian went out of their way to accommodate my last minute request for accommodation and it was no surprise therefore that their set up is refreshingly one of ‘no standing on ceremony, muck in and feel at home’. They told me upfront that they are both experienced home sharers and I found them to be more than easy to live alongside. Theirs is a lived in, unfussy home and I felt relaxed & comfortable staying there. They are both professionals and conversation was nicely broad ranging. Location-wise, they’re accessible to any number of activities - both ‘local’ and more touristy. The V&A Waterfront is a 10ish minute walk away and Camps Bay can be reached by car in 10ish minutes too. Ideal ! And they have safe & secure on-site car parking... Great value. Thanks guys.

Such a lovely couple. My stay was very short, but more than enough to feel truly welcomed. Sharing a wonderful outdoor dinner at a special spot, with incredible views, made it even more memorable. They are lovely.

Staying with Aaron and Ian in their beautiful, centrally located apartment was an absolute gift. My month in Cape Town couldn't have been better, and they played a huge part in that. Thoughtful hosts, wonderful conversations, great shared evenings, and excellent recommendations. I'd return anytime. Thank you for everything.
