The 1950s cane cutters barracks has become a comfortable modern guest wing to the 1920s farmhouse. Two ensuite rooms have queen beds. The third room has two single beds with bathroom facilities downstairs. There is a living room, kitchenette (no oven, but there is a small cooktop, microwave, jug, toaster, coffee maker, fridge), and breezy decks with great views over the cane fields. Light breakfast is available on a self help basis.

Yamba on the coast is about 20 minutes drive. The inland town of Grafton is 25 minutes drive. Maclean is our local town at only 10 minutes drive. You will need a car to get around. Pick ups and drop offs to Maclean or Yamba can be arranged depending on our availability. Yamba is great for the beaches, surf and café culture. Maclean is a quaint old fashioned main street town with good cafes. Grafton has interesting architecture and the Grafton Regional Gallery. Ulmarra near Grafton also has a great gallery, heritage listed main street, antique shops, and riverside pub. There are also great old fashioned pubs in small towns like Brushgrove, Lawrence and Harwood. Lismore is about an hour drive north, Byron Bay an hour and a half north, Coffs Harbour an hour and a half south.

Enjoyed the last stay so much I came back again! This time we saw 5 emus from the verandah as well. Big thank you again James ...... can't wait to stay again soon for a longer stay.
As James was my 1st ever MisterBansB guest in Sydney in 2015, now feeling incredibly privileged being his guest together with 2 of my friends at his beautifully restored Cane Cutters Barracks. As covered in James' previous reviews, the accommodation really is beautifully appointed and in a perfect location overlooking the sugar cane fields - the pics just don't do it justice. There is a large wrap-around deck perfect for gazing at the stars at night, and even an outdoor bath tub. I loved the bird life (woke up to kookaburras one morning) and each evening visited by adorable little green tree frogs. James' family has been on the land for more than 100 years, and has a strong connection to the history of this region. James also made really good recommendations on where to go close by for breakkie (Botero Cafe in McLean) and dinner (Ulmarra Hotel overlooking the Clarence River) - although breakfast cereals are provided together with coffee, tea and fresh cookies. Big thank you again James - incredibly good value for a 2 nite stop on the way to Byron Bay. We will definitely be returning again soon (hopefully in time for for the Grafton Jacaranda Festival).
One of the best b and b. What you get is a 2 story privat house at the back of the main house. Upstairs you have a modern living area and a well equipped kitchen with hot plates and a coffee machein but no oven Upstairs you have a balcony that surrounds the top floor allowing you to see the in tire working farm and the sunsets over the sugar cain. Down stares there is a modern sauna that we used after a good day of exploring the local towns. Up to 6 people can stay with 3 room and well stocked and clean bathrooms and showers
We stopped here for two nights enroute from Sydney to Brisbane. It was an excellent place to rest for a couple of days. We were not disappointed with our decision. James and Steve were very welcoming. The place is spotless (and I mean spotless) with heaps of space, quality furnishings and linen. An added bonus, not mentioned in their listing, is the steam room available for guests to use at no additional charge. We could not have been more delighted with our two nights. 100% satisfied.
