The Reveal

- Beach house within the city of Oslo - Located right on the water - Excellent opportunities for swimming, diving and fishing from the property - Only 12 minutes by bus from Oslo city centre - Uniquely attractive place to stay in all seasons

Welcome to stay in our fantastic waterfront fjord cottage! It is located within the city limits of Oslo, and it is a truly rare kind of property in the city landscape. You will be staying right on the water (literally only a couple of metres away) and the property has a long shoreline with excellent opportunities for swimming, diving, kayaking, and boating. Uniquely attractive place to stay in all seasons!

The property is located only 12 minutes by bus away from the centre of Oslo, and there are frequent bus departures from just outside the property from early morning to late evening.

OUTDOOR AREA The charming outdoor area has 180 degrees of stunning views of the fiord and its islands.

There is an outdoor kitchen with a gas grill, an outdoor hot-water shower, a heat lamp, a dining area, reclining chairs and much more.

There is a boat and a kayak available for rent.

THE INTERIOR The fjord cottage was built at a time when the City of Oslo still permitted construction right on the water. Such construction is no longer allowed, rendering this a particularly rare and unique property.

The interior has later been re-designed by architect Andreas Tingulstad. While the fjord cottage is not very large, the design strives to make the most out of every cubic millimeter.

The interior is modern, has specially designed furniture, and is well lit with lighting from Expo Nova. A combined heat pump and air conditioning unit ensures comfortable indoor temperatures around the year.

The kitchen has a Miele induction cooktop, an oven, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer, a coffee machine, knives, china, and glassware.

In the living room, there is a Sony flatscreen integrated into the wall. The dining area (which can actually seat up to 10 persons) has a panoramic alcove with an 180 degree view of the Oslo fjord, including its islands and the buildings of downtown Oslo. The dining table can be lowered and converted into a romantic double bed for two adults.

The bathroom features Bisazza mosaic, sandblasted glass and Philippe Stark interior design.

SEVERAL SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS POSSIBLE There are several opportunities for your sleeping arrangements.

First, there is a bedroom with four bunk beds (and spacious sliding-door storage under the lower beds).

Second, there is a mezzanine sleeping loft which sleeps up to four people in two comfortable double beds. The loft is perched above the living area and is accessed by a ladder. Each bed features an overhead ceiling window which offers the opportunity to fall asleep right under the stars.

Third, the dining area can be converted into a double bed and then offers the opportunity to enjoy the stunning views also while you fall sleep and wake up.

There are light-proof roller blinds on every window. Used in conjunction with the air conditioning, it makes it easy to regulate both light and temperature even in the middle of summer.

The fjord cottage is ideal for couples, families and groups of up to four or five friends. It can technically sleep up to eight people, but the sleeping arrangements become intimate if there are that many guests.

UNIQUELY ATTRACTIVE IN ALL SEASONS While this property is a heavenly place to spend time by the sea in the warmer part of the year, it is a uniquely attractive place to stay in all seasons. The immediate vicinity to the water provides for stunning views in all kinds of weather. Some winters, the fiord is covered by ice thick enough to allow skating, skiing, ski sailing and kite snowboarding. The combination of heated floors and the powerful heat pump ensures comfortable indoor temperature all winter long.

GUEST ACCESS Guests have access to our beautiful garden, and to the fantastic swimming, diving and fishing opportunities that are available from the property.

As mentioned above, guests may also rent a kayak or boat from us. (In the interest of safety, rental presupposes that you have previous experience with kayaking or boating.)

We had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful spot directly on the sea a sunny weekend in August. The cabin is a find, just 12 minutes with busride right south of Oslo. It is a tranquil and lovely place, where you can enjoy a 180 degree view of the sea, and the sunset, right from the deck outside the cabin, or through the panoramic windows from inside. The place is nicely styled, and fully equipped, thus letting you stay in comfort. Kåre and Truls are wonderful hosts, very welcoming, warm and easy to talk to. We will definitely stay again, and would recommend anyone to treat themselves to this gem.

Don't tell anyone about this place!! Let's keep it a secret. It's just 15 south of central Oslo by bus and it's a little slice of heaven. Perfect location and gob-smacking views in every direction from this idyllic little cottage on the rocks of Oslofjord. It faces west so the sunset is designed for the jetty and there are so many places to luxuriate and relax. So keep it quiet or it'll be impossible to book!!
