Sweden is closely followed by 4 other countries that scored 9 out of 10: Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway and Spain score very well as a gay friendly country.
France is far behind with its meager 5 out of 10, tied with Germany. Both countries have lost a lot of points due to their equality regulations for LGBT people.
The United Kingdom ranks very well with 8 out of 10 points. Italy, Serbia and the Baltic countries are at the bottom of the scale with 1 and 2 points respectively. The state of homosexuals is sometimes considered critical.
Russia and Ukraine are in a good position with a score of - 2, just behind Belarus, Moldova and Turkey with - 1 point.
The Rainbow Europe Country ranking was based on several major points, including anti-discrimination legislation and the recognition of same-sex couples. The International Lesbian and Gay Association also refers to homoparentality and sanctions against homophobia.
