The Reveal

Cozy

Come join me in my cute and cozy 1-bedroom Berkeley apartment for a relaxing getaway. You get the bedroom with a comfy mattress, desk and closet space. I'll sleep in the couch, and we'll share the living room, kitchen, bathroom and patio. You're welcome to use the kitchen and my basic home workout equipment. If I'm cooking and you can chip in a little money, I'd be happy to make you breakfast or share some lunch or dinner.

If you want easy access to San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, and the beautiful outdoors, this is a great spot. My place is located an 8-minute walk to BART trains that take you to San Francisco in 25 minutes, downtown Oakland and Berkeley in just 1 to 2 stops, and both SFO and OAK airports. There are bus lines at the end of the block that take you around Oakland and Berkeley, and if you're driving, there's easy parking on my block.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I'm a friendly, open-minded person who loves to travel and to meet new people. I think of myself as a very sociable introvert, as I'm also quite independent and relish some alone time. I've lived in three countries and four U.S. states and have lived with a lot of different roommates over the years, so I'm good at getting along with folks and am thoughtful and respectful in other people's spaces. I spend my work days doing social justice work, which I find very meaningful, and also love to to travel, read, cook, garden, and do pretty much anything outdoors including hiking, camping, sailing, and kayaking. I'm fully vaccinated and boosted for COVID, and am a non-smoker.

Nearby Attractions

If you're looking for LGBT venues, the White Horse Inn (the oldest gay bar in the U.S.) and Steamworks bathhouse are both about a mile away, and there's a growing cluster of gay bars in downtown Oakland. It's a very easy train or car ride into San Francisco's SoMa and Castro districts.

Beyond that, San Francisco and the surround Bay Area have tons of great neighborhoods, food, museums and cultural venues, if you like the outdoors, the ocean, redwood forests, hills and bay are stunning. We're just a little over an hour from Napa and a bit farther to Sonoma, Santa Cruz, Monterey and other great day trips.

Visiting the San Francisco Bay area for a few days, Ben's place was a great choice for location. His apartment is easily accessible on the ground floor of an interesting, older house in a pleasant, walkable Berkeley neighborhood. The bed was very comfortable and the common spaces allowed for reading, relaxation, and chatting some with the host. Ben was very accommodating, offered me coffee in the morning, and had great suggestions for places in the area I wanted to explore. Thanks for the great stay at your place Ben.

My bf and I had a perfect stay at Ben's. He's an incredibly welcoming host, and his apartment is just perfect. Couldn't recommend it more enthusiastically !

Ben was an amazing host. He has solid recommendations when I ran my plans by him, with stellar local insight to take many outings to the next level. As a solo traveller is was such a treat to have someone to connect with at the end of each day. He also provided a lot of research recommendations and curated book from his personal library perfectly suited to my sometimes niche interests. Can't thank him enough for letting me have a taste of local living when he opened his home to me.

Ben was the best host! He recommended places to eat, and we ended up walking to a local taco truck. Ben's place is a quiet place in a quiet neighborhood. Was a great stay, I look forward to staying there when in the San Francisco Bay Area again!!

Ben was an excellent host, shared a great glass of wine and had a nice conversation. Was nice to stay in a cozy place, in a quiet area in Berkeley, traveling for work. Parking was easy and had no issues. Shared a nice cup of coffee in the morning before heading off for work. Thanks Ben for sharing your home with me.
