Gay Guide Berlin

Berlin Gay Pride: June 25 - July 24, 2027
Written by
May 17 2026

I keep coming back to gay Berlin because nowhere else comes close to what it does - and I say this as someone who has spent real time in every major gay city in the world. Berlin does not have a gay scene, it has a gay culture: something that permeates the city's fabric, its music, its art, its politics, its relationship with the night. The Schöneberg neighbourhood - where Christopher Isherwood lived, where David Bowie spent years, where the first German gay magazine was published in 1897 - is the historic heart, but the scene has long since spread to Kreuzberg, Neukölln, Prenzlauer Berg and beyond. There are no closing times in Berlin. Clubs open Friday night and close Monday morning. The fetish and leather circuit is the most developed in the world. The politics are serious - Berlin was where the gay rights movement began in Europe, and that history is present in everything. Coming to gay Berlin for a weekend is a category error - this is a city that requires time. 🏳️‍🌈 The Christopher Street Day Berlin in July is among the largest LGBTQ+ events in Europe and brings the city's gay geography into full visibility for visitors who might otherwise navigate only the Schoneberg or Kreuzberg circuits. What gives gay Berlin its particular global reputation is the combination of the political history - the city as the site of the first gay rights movement in the early 20th century, the devastation of the Nazi period, the post-Wall explosion of queer culture - with the present-day reality of a city that is still genuinely experimental and accepting. The cost of living in Berlin has risen significantly over the past decade but it remains among the more affordable major capitals in Western Europe. For LGBTQ+ verified accommodation and the full guide, misterb&b Berlin is the definitive starting point.

"Dinner, drinks and then a dance"

"Arrive on Friday and probably first take a stroll through the gay scene around Motzstraße and Nollendorfplatz. Spend Saturday there or in the gay East district around Gleimstraße until you feel like dinner. After that: For fit guys and very special experiences check out the party at KitKat or Lab.oratory, otherwise end up in one of the many gay clubs. Sunday take a nice walk through Erpetal to sober up before heading back."

"Friday beers at Prinzknecht, warming up and getting horny at Boyberry and finishing at New Action or Bulls"

Berlin's gay history: where it all started

Berlin is not just historically significant for LGBTQ+ rights - it is the origin point. Magnus Hirschfeld founded the Institut fĂźr Sexualwissenschaft here in 1919, the first institution in the world dedicated to the study and advocacy of sexual rights. The Nazis destroyed it in 1933 and the books were burned on the street - a moment documented in photographs. The movement rebuilt itself in SchĂśneberg in the postwar years, and SchĂśneberg remains the historic heart of the community: Nollendorfplatz, Motzstrasse, Akazienstrasse. The memorial to LGBTQ+ victims of National Socialism stands in the Tiergarten, a short walk from the Reichstag. Coming to Berlin without understanding this history is to miss what makes the city's gay culture so serious, so political, and so resilient.

"start in MĂśbel Olfe on thursday, go to Shantals House of Shame. Friday get before 11pm to Lab.oratory at Berghain, then use your ticket to get to Berghain and stay there till the sun shines out of your bud. When you get out your clock will tell you, that you just overdid saturday and it is already sunday. Ficken3000 is always an option, too"

"My perfect gay weekend in Berlin is pretty simple: an early 6am run through Hasenheide while the city is still quiet, then home for breakfast — usually overnight oats. Later, it's back to Hasenheide and the Tuntenwiese: sprawling in the sun with a good book, people-watching and, depending on the mood, a little cruising in the bushes behind the lawn. Evenings are for dinner with friends somewhere in Kreuzberg, followed by a beer, a smoke and seeing where the night takes us."

"Meeting at MĂśbel Olfe First and the bar Rosie's and then any gay club like Geburtstagsklub"

"It honestly depends on the time of year. Summer it is all about CSD and the lakes, autumn we have Folsom, year round we have sex-positive queer parties."

"My perfect gay weekend: Friday night The Coven for cocktails and flirts, Saturday BOILER for sauna and a bit of Berlin nightlife with physical contact, and later somewhere to dance where it's dark and loud enough that nobody asks what time it is anymore. Sunday then coffee, a hangover and the realization that "just a quiet weekend" in Berlin is a pretty bad lie."

"Friday starts with a drink outside SĂźdblock at Kottbusser Tor, followed by MĂśbel-Olfe once the evening gets livelier. Saturday is slower: brunch in NeukĂślln, a long walk along the Landwehr Canal and dinner with friends. On Sunday, I'd have a late breakfast in SchĂśneberg and spend the afternoon at Boiler. That is my perfect Berlin weekend: queer without being confined to one "gay district", social without being overplanned, and with enough time simply to enjoy the city."

"Oh yeah of course for Bhain and Labaratory😁💕 I work there on weekends 😬Labaratory is easier with looks , naked goes, fetish is fine , sporty what ever you feel like Berghain is the largest club in Europe and there for strict with vibe and looks if you want to go dancing that's the place"

"The weekend in Berlin starts on Thursday. You can go to MĂśbel Olfe and if you want more you can go afterwards to Chantal's House of Shame. From Friday to Sunday it's important to know what parties there are. If you're more into techno, Pornceptual, Lab.Dance at Lab.oratory or Piepshow at Kitkat, Gegen BerlĂn (fetish party). For other types of music there's Horse meat disco (disco house), Furiosa (Latin) or Putifest (Reggaeton)."

"Warschauer area 7pm Then saunas and party in Warschauer or SchĂśneberg area."

C

"Friday evening starting at Coven; probably also going straight to one of the legendary parties on Friday to avoid the tourist crowds on Saturdays. During the day, sports at Barry's Bootcamp, relaxing in the Tiergarten with friends in the summer, visiting a museum like Fotografiska, Neue Nationalgallerie, the Schwules Museum, and diving into nightlife in the evenings. Then start Sunday with a late brunch."
