The Reveal

Near LGBTQ+ SceneCozyGreat for Fitness LoversInsta-WorthyRelaxingCentral location

Welcome to the heart of Cologne! Your private room with a private bathroom is located in the popular Agnesviertel, one of the city’s most beautiful neighborhoods. It’s quiet, green, and full of old-world charm, yet just a few minutes away from downtown Cologne and the queer scene.

Some of my favorite queer spots are also nearby: The Kattwinkel Bar and Café Schmitz are just a short walk away. Plus, the subway will take you to Schaafenstraße—the well-known hub of Cologne’s queer scene—or the Old Town in just a few minutes. Perfect for a queer weekend, a city getaway, or simply a few relaxing days in Cologne 🌈

The apartment is located on the 5th floor of a historic building from 1920, listed as a historic landmark, on a quiet side street in the Agnesviertel. High ceilings, original doors, beautiful hardwood floors, and large windows exude the classic charm of Cologne’s historic buildings.

From the windows, you look directly out onto greenery. Despite its central location, the apartment is pleasantly quiet and offers a relaxing retreat after a day in the city or a long night out.

The room, approximately 16 m2 in size, is bright and quiet and features its own modern bathroom with a shower.

The room features a rare vintage tubular steel bed from IKEA dating from the 1980s, along with an Egon Eiermann desk. Please note: The bed is only 1.20 m wide and is particularly suitable for solo travelers or couples who like to sleep a little more snuggled up.

The kitchen is fully equipped and is shared with us. The balcony and the washing machine are also available for shared use.

The Agnesviertel is an ideal starting point for exploring Cologne: a quiet place to live, yet right in the heart of the action.

Right in the neighborhood: St. Agnes and the sprawling Fort X with its rose garden are just a few minutes away. Perfect for a stroll through the neighborhood. Take Riehler Straße and you’ll quickly reach the Rhine, where you can stroll along the waterfront. The Eigelsteintor and the lively Eigelstein neighborhood are also very close by. You can easily walk to Cologne Cathedral, the main train station, and the Old Town.

Queer Cologne If you want to get to know Cologne’s queer side, everything is just a short walk from here:

🍸 Kattwinkel-Bar – a popular queer bar right in the Agnesviertel, practically on your doorstep. ☕ Café Schmitz – a Cologne scene classic and a great spot for coffee, breakfast, or a drink. Café Schmitz 🌈 Schaafenstraße – the heart of Cologne’s queer nightlife. Bars and clubs line the street for about 150 meters. From your accommodation, you can get there in just a few minutes by subway. 🍹 Mumu, ExCorner, Iron Cocktail Lounge & Co. – around Schaafenstraße, you’ll find numerous queer bars, ranging from cozy pubs to party spots. 💃 Belgian Quarter & Friesenviertel – plenty of bars, cafés, restaurants, and clubs, plus an open and urban atmosphere. You can get there quickly by train or bike, too.

For a Relaxing Day If you’re in the mood for some peace and quiet: take a walk along the Rhine, stroll through the Agnesviertel, or catch your breath in the rose garden at Fort X. If you’re into art, you can also visit the Cologne Sculpture Park on the Rhine. Cologne is one of Germany’s major queer metropolises and offers LGBTQIA+ bars, clubs, culture, and events all year round. Especially around Schaafenstraße and during ColognePride, the city turns into a rainbow playground. My personal tip: Start by having a coffee in the Agnesviertel, take a walk along the Rhine toward downtown, and in the evening, take the subway toward Schaafenstraße—that way, you’ll get to see quite a bit of Cologne in just one day. 🌈

Host recommendations

It’s important to us that all guests feel comfortable and welcome in the apartment. The apartment is explicitly LGBTQ+-friendly and a relaxed, respectful place for everyone. However, there are a few simple rules: Please be considerate of the other residents and the neighborhood, and observe the usual quiet hours. The common areas, such as the kitchen and balcony, are shared with us. Please leave them clean and tidy. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the apartment. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed. The private bathroom is for the use of the booked room only. Parties and large gatherings aren’t allowed in the apartment. Otherwise, just make yourselves at home, be respectful, and enjoy Cologne! 🌈 If you have any questions or are looking for recommendations for restaurants, bars, the queer scene, or nice places in Cologne, we’re happy to help.
