Welcome to my Rio oasis! I’m Oju, a professional in the cultural and tourism scene, and I’m opening the doors to my home at the highest and most privileged spot on Tavares Bastos—the safest neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro (we’re above the Guanabara Palace and next to BOPE headquarters). Here, you’ll enjoy an authentic, welcoming, and 100% safe experience.
THE SPACE AND NATURE
The house is a stunning space bathed in natural light—the morning sun shines perfectly on our sofa. What really sets us apart are our panoramic areas (both indoor and outdoor). Lying in the hammock, you’ll enjoy an indescribable view stretching from Niterói to Christ the Redeemer, taking in Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf Mountain, and the ocean. All of this is surrounded by greenery: it’s common for us to have breakfast while watching toucans, marmosets, eagles, and monkeys roaming freely. The house features a full kitchen, a laundry room, 1 bathroom, and both bedrooms have air conditioning (though the cool breeze up here is delightful).
OUR VIBE
I don’t just want to rent out a room—I want to share my daily life in Rio. I’m passionate about making guests feel welcome. I love sharing a timely breakfast, putting on some great Brazilian music, and opening my home to my artist and musician friends, who often drop by with their instruments to play a tune. Here, you won’t feel stifled in an impersonal room; you’ll find refuge in a magical artistic haven!
TRANSPORTATION AND CULTURE
The tranquility of our high-rise retreat connects seamlessly with the city’s hustle and bustle: Transportation: The walk down to the community entrance takes about 8 minutes (and 12 minutes back up). On the main street (1.3 km away), you’ll find a bakery, a bike rental station, and hearty home-cooked meals starting at R$25. The Largo do Machado subway station is right there. iFood delivers right to your door, and for getting around by car, the 99 app works incredibly well! The LGBTQIAPN+ Scene: We’re a short drive from Rua Farme de Amoedo and Ipanema Beach (approx. 6.5 km), and from Copacabana (5 km). Nightlife is easily accessible: The Home is about 20 minutes away via the Santa Bárbara Tunnel, and we’re very close to The Pride of Lapa, Dédalos Rio, and Club 117.
Art and Leisure: We’re right next door to the iconic The Maze (with its jazz nights and filming locations). Urca Beach, the A Gentil Carioca Gallery, and the MAM are just a few minutes’ drive away. If you’d like to take a leisurely stroll, the Feira da Glória market is right next door. Make yourself at home, experience the authentic culture of Rio, and have the best and safest stay of your life!
Protect your payments: never communicate outside of misterb&b (website or app) and never transfer money outside our secure system.

🍹 LGBTQIAPN+ NIGHTLIFE AND BARS: Club 117 (Glória): Literally in the next neighborhood, right down here. Great for enjoying the night without going far. Lapa and Downtown: Just a few minutes away, you’ll find The Pride of Lapa nightclub and countless bars in the birthplace of bohemian culture. In Centro, I’d highlight The Home (one of the city’s best LGBTQIAPN+ nightspots, just a quick run away via the Santa Bárbara Tunnel), as well as Dédalos Rio and Seven Bar for those looking for 24-hour fun. 🏖 BEACHES AND MEETING SPOTS: Ipanema (Posto 8 and Farme de Amoedo): The epicenter of our community! It’s about a 15–20-minute drive away. It’s perfect for seeing and being seen. Top tip: on your way back from the beach, stop by Temakeria—right there in Ipanema—for a quick bite. Copacabana: The stretch near the Rainbow kiosk (Posto 5) is the perfect hangout spot and is just 5 km from here. Urca Beach: The ideal spot for a quiet late afternoon on the seawall with a cold beer and a really laid-back, diverse vibe. 🍽 FOOD AND DAILY LIFE: Glória Market (Sundays): Right next door! An unmissable Rio experience, extremely gay-friendly, with street stalls, music, and a very diverse crowd. Fine Dining: For an unforgettable contemporary lunch for two or with friends, reserve a table at Lilia Restaurante, tucked away in downtown Rio. It’s fantastic! Right on our doorstep: Down the street, in Catete and Largo do Machado, there are wonderful home-style restaurants starting at R$ 25 and great bakeries. 🎨 CULTURE, ART, AND MUSIC: The Maze: It’s right here in our community! An iconic architectural labyrinth that hosts world-famous jazz nights. Art and Museums: The spectacular Museum of Tomorrow and the MAM (Museum of Modern Art) are just a few minutes away and are must-sees. For independent art, visit the A Gentil Carioca gallery. Music Scene: The South Zone has incredible cultural events. Keep an eye on the schedule at the São Clemente quadra, which frequently hosts fantastic samba gatherings and even alternative jazz festivals. Since I’m always keeping track of the city’s calendar of events, exhibitions (like ArtRio), and festivals, feel free to ask me for tips on what’s happening the week of your trip!
Welcome to our Rio oasis! To ensure you have an incredible stay and that our time together is as enjoyable as possible, I’ve put together a few simple guidelines based on mutual respect and harmony: 🌿 1. Respect for the Community: Our home is located on Tavares Bastos, the safest neighborhood in Rio (right next to BOPE headquarters). It’s a quiet, family-friendly, and very welcoming neighborhood. Please respect the local residents and the peace and quiet of the neighborhood, especially when moving around with luggage or at night. 🏠 2. House Rules and Visitors: I love having guests over, enjoying breakfast together, listening to some great Brazilian music, and, every now and then, I invite friends from the art scene over for a chat. The atmosphere is super laid-back and gay-friendly! However, for safety reasons and to maintain our peace and quiet, visitors or casual dates (from dating apps, for example) are not allowed without prior notice and my permission. 🍳 3. Common Areas: Feel free to use the fully equipped kitchen and laundry room. The golden rule is simple: if you use it, clean it up. Let’s keep the spaces tidy so everyone can enjoy the environment comfortably. ⚡ 4. Energy Conservation: The breeze up here is delightful, but the rooms are equipped with air conditioning for your comfort. I kindly ask that you turn off the AC and lights whenever you leave the house to explore the city. 🚬 5. Smoking: Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the rooms and in indoor areas. If you smoke, feel free to use our open-air panoramic area—always using the ashtray and enjoying the view. My home is your sanctuary. Treat this space with the same care you would your own, and we’ll have an unforgettable stay!
