Located on a boutique banana farm 1 mi. from Kehena black sand beach in a vibrant coastal neighborhood. Enjoy nearby snorkeling, rainforest hiking, and Several of the newest black sand beaches in the world.

Bananarama Cottage features an ocean view, large screened-in lanai with dining table and loveseat, King bed, Jacuzzi whirlpool tub. Its design is inspired by its location on a boutique banana farm featuring 70 different varieties of bananas--great for Foodies. Perfect for 1-2 adults.

Bright, cheery colors, lots of windows to allow tropical breezes and ocean views from the bedroom, kitchen, and living room. The whimsical banana theme carries into every room. Each space is well lit, with modern, quiet ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom. Features custom built furniture using local woods such as mango, monkeypod, and lychee.

Bananarama is set on "Seaview Farms" near the Red Road in the small Kalapana Seaview neighborhood 1/3 mile (5 minute walk) from the gorgeous ocean-front park and cliffs, and 1 mile from Kehena black sand beach. This is in the Puna district of the Big Island. One can easily spend a week within a half-hour drive of the cottage. The Red Road (Highway 137) is an official Scenic Byway, and is the longest, least developed coastal road in all of Hawaii. This area is known for being very LGBT friendly.

Other Things to Note

Eco-conscious, using LED lighting, quadruple filtered (including Ultraviolet) rainwater catchment water supply, and on demand water heating. Surrounding property is a sustainable, tropical fruit farm.

The historic plantation town of Pahoa is a 20 minute drive away. It offers grocery, natural foods and drug stores, gas, and is home to some great foodie spots and affordable farmer's markets with fresh local produce.

Cell phones generally do not work well in this part of the Big Island. Often Verizon & other signals work from the ocean front park. There is AT&T LTE from the cottage. The cottage has WiFi calling for phones that can access it and a land line with free long distance. Other WiFi calling options such as FaceTime and other services work well.

** Note that this listing does NOT include the required Hawaii General Excise & Transient Accommodation Tax of 14.69 percent . Please pay this via online payment site anytime before your arrival or with cash at check in. Unfortunately there is no way to collect this on this site directly.

If you are looking for a very comfortable place to stay in a quiet residential part of the Big Island the Bananarama is perfect. I had a wonderful stay in Rob & Bob's cottage. The cottage offers everything you need for a nice holiday. It is lovingly furnished and perfect for relaxing. Would book the cottage any time again for holidays. Many thanks to Rob & Bob.
