Enjoy your stay in a spacious private bedroom inside Fairmount Manor — a beautifully preserved Folk Victorian home located on a quiet double lot in Somerville, MA, just outside Boston.
Your room features four large windows that fill the space with natural light from sunrise through late afternoon, along with a workspace, seating area, blackout drapes, and plenty of room to settle in and relax. Whether you’re visiting Boston for nightlife, work, Pride events, concerts, or simply a getaway, the room is designed to feel comfortable, calm, and welcoming. Whether traveling solo, with a partner, or visiting friends in the city, guests are welcomed into a warm and comfortable environment.
This is a shared home, and guests have access to all common areas including a large living room, fully equipped eat in kitchen, patio, and outdoor spaces. The house is warm, creative, and full of personality — the kind of place that feels lived in rather than corporate or cookie-cutter.
Fairmount Manor is especially well suited for LGBTQ+ travelers looking for a stay that feels inclusive, safe, authentic, and relaxed.

From there, downtown Boston, Cambridge, historic sites, museums, and nightlife are all easily accessible without needing a car.
THE HOME:Fairmount Manor is a distinguished example of turn-of-the-century craftsmanship that has been thoughtfully maintained while embracing modern comfort and style. Original mahogany doors and moldings remain beautifully preserved, while golden fir floors add warmth and character throughout the home.
The barn located behind the property predates the house itself and remains one of the property’s most unique features. In the evenings, the softly illuminated barn and gardens give the property a distinctive atmosphere that guests often remember long after their stay.

A large and comfortable living room

One of the best things about this area is how genuinely welcoming it is. Davis Square is steps away and has a great inclusive vibe, with tons of shops, restaurants, and local events. I always recommend stopping by Diesel Café — it’s been a community favorite since 1999. The food is good, the coffee is awesome, and they have delicious desserts. There’s even a few pool tables if you want to hang out for a bit.
In nearby Union Square, Bow Market is a fun spot to wander — it’s full of little shops, food stands, and often has pop-up events that are super queer-friendly. The Rockwell and The Independent are both right there too, and they’re great for catching a show or grabbing a drink in a laid-back, open-minded setting. Aeronaut Brewing Company is another local gem where you’ll find live music, community events, and a very welcoming crowd.
If you’re up for a little adventure into Boston hop on the Red Line and, places like Club Café, Jacques Cabaret, abd Cathedrwl Station are classic LGBTQ+ nightlife spots. Whether you’re looking for a dance floor, a drag show, or just a fun night out, they’re always a good time.
There’s a little something for everyone nearby, and you’ll find plenty of spaces where you can just be yourself and enjoy.
I don’t really believe in rules while vacationing, but there are a few simple guidelines to help keep Fairmount Manor comfortable for everyone during your stay: 1) Be kind — to both our neighbors and to The Manor itself. This old home was here long before any of us, and with good care (and a little luck) it will remain here for many years to come. 2) Fairmount Manor is a shoe-free home. Think of it as my way of helping keep the floors clean while also giving your toes the opportunity to enjoy a little freedom. Just inside the entrance is a bench where you may comfortably sit and remove your shoes before heading upstairs. 3) Please leave spaces as you found them — or at least your best interpretation of how you found them. No forensic reconstruction required. 4) The City of Somerville observes time-based noise guidelines, and Fairmount Manor tries to honor them as well. Generally speaking, I like to keep things to a dull roar before 7:00 a.m. and after 11:00 p.m. 4a) Of course, life has its moments — early risings, late-night giggles, and the occasional “oops, dropped a pan at 6 a.m.” All I ask is that we remain mindful and strike that sweet balance between joyful living and gentle quiet, remembering that peace and quiet are everyone’s favorite roommates. My goal is for Fairmount Manor to feel lively when you want it to and peaceful when you need it. I want it to feel just as good to come home to as it does to wake up in. 5) The host’s quarters are located on the third floor and are private. Whispers suggest there may be more to them than meets the eye. From time to time, a faint light flickers beneath the door, a shadow passes a window, or a quiet creak echoes down the stairwell long after dark. While the space is generally off-limits, curious guests may occasionally venture a look — if they dare — but only by invitation and always under the host’s watchful eye. 6) Although housed under the same roof — and very friendly — the first-floor tenant (Jordan) is not affiliated with Fairmount Manor. This is a fantastic place in an adorable part of greater Boston. I highly recommend staying here! The building is absolutely charming, and Chris has tastefully decorated both the bedroom and common spaces. I found the bedroom very comfortable, with a great bed and nice amenities for reading or working. Chris is an excellent host! I enjoyed chatting with him a few times over my stay, and he was very helpful in getting returned to me an item I had forgotten. I recommend this location, and I would happily stay here again!
The place was wonderful, and Chris is such a great host! I felt so very comfortable there and cannot wait to stay there again!
Excellent Stay – A Perfect 5-Star Experience! An outstanding stay from start to finish! The property was stunning, comfortable, and exactly what I was looking for. What truly made the experience memorable was the host—they were easily the most attentive host I've ever had, going above and beyond to make sure every detail was taken care of. I could not have asked for a better stay. I'm already looking forward to staying here again next time I'm in the area!
Had an amazing stay here! Chris was a fantastic host, accommodating and great with communication. The space was very clean and comfortable. It was also in a great location. Would highly recommend Chris and his home for anyone looking in the Boston area!
Seriously one of the most comfortable beds I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping in anywhere. As well as Christopher, and his home are very welcoming and helpful. Thank you for the hospitality!
Christopher's home is a great place to relax and unwind. It's a very well preserved and appointed Victorian home with tons of character and appeal. Its location is terrific as you have easy access (walkable) to plenty of shops, restaurants and bars. Davis Square is a thriving little neighborhood that I enjoyed and it took maybe 7 minutes to drive there. Christopher is incredibly accommodating and hospitable.
Convenient location and super friendly host. Highly recommend.
It was nice to get a little bit out of the city and see a different part of Boston. Chris's place is incredibly unique and has lots of stories to tell. I felt very welcomed and comfortable while staying there, and Chris did a great job of being available for conversations but also leaving me to my own devices.
The home was exactly as described and truly a must-experience stay. The host was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and made me feel very welcome from the moment we first connected. Comfortable, relaxing, and full of character. I would happily stay here again.
Christopher was a fantastic host! His home is lovely, and the bedroom is super comfortable. We had a great stay there, and Chris went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and felt welcome. Highly recommend!
