Alejo's Hideaways presents Casa Las Plumerias, our resort-style home in downtown Oakland Park.

Walk to shops & restaurants or bike to the beach about 2 miles away! The 1/3 acre lot includes a lush garden with palms, mangoes, and rare tropical fruits. Glass doors invite the outside in: step onto the patio to dine alfresco or lounge by the heated pool. Socialize indoors in the open-layout living area, or retire to the bedrooms, each with access to the yard. Take a mid-day siesta in the hammock & swing in the evening breeze.

Casa Las Plumerias welcomes you from the moment you step in the door. You and your guests will enjoy four sizable bedrooms, a large common space with perfect flow from the huge kitchen to the living area to the glassed-in dining area with seating for 8 people.

Our home is perfect for two to eight people. Each bedroom has access to the outdoors, and two bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. Each room is outfitted with high end linens and room darkening curtains.

In the living area, enjoy vibrant home cinema on a 77" Samsung S90C Smart TV with HW-Q800C soundbar. From the dining area, watch wildlife in the yard, including songbirds at the bird feeder.

Our gourmet kitchen is a chef’s dream with Samsung Bespoke appliances (induction cooktop + convection oven, french door refrigerator + freezer with ice maker, microwave, and dishwasher). We include a wide range of cooking tools including silverware, plates, glassware, wine glasses, measuring cups and spoons, pots and pans, cooking utensils, potato peeler, rolling pin, cheese grater, knife set, cutting boards, colander, mixing bowls, wine key with bottle opener, many baking pans, pots and pans, can opener, meat thermometer, BBQ tools, cleaning supplies, salt + pepper grinders, olive oil, and herbs & spices.

The yard includes a screened porch, a built-in gas grill, an outdoor shower, a heated pool, six loungers, canopy umbrellas, and a dining table. A soothing fountain adds to the ambiance, and a mix of mature and sapling tropical fruit trees including mango, starfruit, avocados, jaboticaba, cacao, coconut, guava, jackfruit, and Surinam cherry. And of course there are the beautiful plumerias with their bare branches in winter and their abundant blooms from spring to fall.

It's Really Our Home

Casa Las Plumerias is our main home and we take loving care of it. We rent it out just a few months a year to people we can trust. Before you arrive, we pack our personal things away but leave plenty for you to enjoy. There's even birdseed for the feeder that will attract all kinds of birds -- sometimes even a pair of colorful parrots -- to the yard. And if you have questions about how things work, we really do know the answers.

About Us

We started our business, Alejo's Hideaways, in 2014 with a converted garage in Oakland, California. In addition to Casa Las Plumerias, we now have a sweet house in Palm Springs called Casa Azahara, a penthouse apartment in Pereira, Colombia called Casa In The Air, and -- in partnership with Alejandro's big brother -- a boutique hotel in Bogotá, Colombia called Hotel Zen-sual.

If you're curious about us, Alejandro has worked as a lawyer, nonprofit administrator, and bodyworker. Mark has worked as a custom application developer, singer, actor, and writer.
