Ludovic Canot :
Ludovic Canot

We met him a few years ago in Los Angeles, when his career was just taking off. Since then, along with François Sagat, Ludovic Canot has become one of the porn industry's favorite Frenchies, acting for TitanMen, Cazzo, Menatplay, Falcon, BelAmi, Eurocreme and others. At the end of October, he received the Hustlaball Award for Best European Performer in Berlin. And it's with this award that the dark-haired beau has decided to bow out. He has just announced to Têtu magazine that he is putting an end to his porn career. He confirmed this to us during a meeting in a Parisian café, during which this travel enthusiast also revealed his favorite spots and travel anecdotes.

misterb&b : So, you've just announced to Têtu that you're quitting porn?
LC : Yes, I've stopped, that's it, two months ago. I felt like I'd done it all. I've done erotica, porn, I've indulged my fantasies, I've shown all the facets I wanted to show... I want to move on to something else now.

mrbb: What are your plans now?
LC :Frankly, porn isn't as much fun as it used to be, a bit like the record industry with piracy. So launching my own label, my own website with my videos, I'm not sure that's a good idea. On the other hand, I've offered to make a film for a studio. We'll see if that happens.
Otherwise, my main project today is to write a book about my experience in porn. I don't yet know how, or in what form. I'll write it and see how it comes out.
And then I've got two or three other projects that are a bit more mainstream, in communications... Becoming a people or music columnist on a TNT channel is something that could interest me. I like the idea of having several lives.

mrbb: Are you going to keep your stage name?
LC: ... I don't know... That's one of the questions I'm trying to resolve...

mrbb: What do you remember from all those years?
LC: I went because I wanted to, nobody forced me, I didn't need the money, it was really for me, I wanted to live out my fantasies... And above all, to have no regrets.
In particular, it enabled me to travel a lot. Right from the start, I found myself in Budapest. A few weeks later, I was in Athens, then London, Gran Canaria, Los Angeles, Prague, New York, Miami...
I love discovering new places. During filming, rather than go clubbing at night with the others, I preferred to go to bed early so that the next day I could go for a walk and enjoy the city.

mrbb: Of all your travels, which are your favorite cities?
LC: San Francisco, Budapest and Tel Aviv.
Budapest and Tel Aviv are my favorites. On the other hand, I could really see myself living in San Francisco. It's a city on a human scale, with lots of green space, and it's easy to work. And it's only an hour from Los Angeles!
Los Angeles is an ideal city to work in, especially if you're on your own. It's a city where you have to succeed, so it doesn't encourage peace of mind, that's for sure, but that's part of the game. I played it and I liked it.
And then very recently, I fell in love with Rome. I spent New Year's Eve there and just fell in love.

mrbb: Apart from Paris, where you live, in which city do you feel at home and why?
LC: I'm from Hyères, I stayed there until I graduated and I'm still loyal to it. I go back every summer and every Christmas. And when I'm there, I go out quite a lot, to the Texas Bar in Toulon, for example, or to the beach at Le Pradet...

mrbb: Is Paris really your adopted city?
LC: It's the city where I feel at home now, even if I miss the sun and there's too much noise. I've been living here for 9 years. All the time I've been traveling for shoots or photos, I've always kept my cosy nest in the 3rd. And for the time being, all my new projects would lead me to stay in Paris.

mrbb: What are your favorite places in Paris?
A café: Starbucks du Marais, rue des Archives. I love the taste of their coffee. I always have a grande extrashot latte with skim milk and no foam!
A gay bar: Cox is a bar where I feel really comfortable.
A restaurant: Le Petit Fer à Cheval, rue Vieille du Temple.
A club: on the rare occasions when I go out, I like to go to the CUD.
A store: the Lacoste boutique on rue Vieille du Temple. I'm very into streetwear and I think the store is beautiful, the clothes are top-notch and the store manager is friendly.
A sauna: the Riad, rue des Pyrénées. It's beautiful, it's zen, it's intimate. I loved going there when I lived near Gambetta.
A sex club: I haven't been there in years, but I'd say Full Metal, just for the name. It's a sexual place, and that, even in sex clubs, is an atmosphere that's sometimes hard to find. But I'm more into saunas than sex clubs.

mrbb: Where would you recommend a tourist to experience Paris as a Parisian?
LC: Ile Saint Louis. It's my favorite place. Every time I come back from a trip, I put my suitcase down, go to the Starbucks on rue des Archives, get my Latte and go and sit on île Saint Louis, facing the Seine, and I stay there for an hour...

mrbb: Your favorite places in the world?
A hotel: the Vdara in Las Vegas. They have a magnificent spa, it smells good everywhere in the hotel... Las Vegas, for a weekend, is great, all the hotels are luxurious, with sublime views, and you really enjoy yourself.
A bar: Micky's in Los Angeles, because I have so many memories there, and also for its Cosmos and its beautiful strippers.
A restaurant: More in Berlin, in Schöneberg. For the waiters, the atmosphere, the cocktails, the colors. It's refined, elegant without being stuffy.
Then there's Basix Cafe in Los Angeles. Their Proscuitto pizza is excellent!
A club: G-A-Y in London, for its musical style
A store: Brick + Mortar in Los Angeles, on West Hollywood, for clothes, design and scents.

mrbb: A city for partying?
LC: Tel Aviv, for the sun, the sea, the pretty boys. They don't take it too seriously there, they just let themselves go. The atmosphere is very positive.

mrbb: The city where you find the hottest boys?
LC: Rome and Rio. Rome for a boyfriend, Rio for a one-night stand.

mrbb: A city to fall in love with?
LC: Between San Francisco and Los Angeles, there's a tiny town perched on a cliff where I'd love to live with my husband... It's Cambria, on Monterey Bay. It's very wild, often in the mist, among the trees. The squirrels come and eat out of your hand, and at the restaurant you eat shark... It's wild and very romantic.

mrbb: The most gay-friendly city?
LC: I'm not going to be very original, but it's San Francisco: there's a visibility, tolerance and acceptance that you can't find anywhere else.

mrbb: What do you always take with you when you travel?
LC: My kiki (laughs)... Well yes, my stuffed Kiki! Because with Kiki, I'm sure everything's going to be fine!
In fact, I've been terrified on planes ever since the Rio/Paris crash. As soon as I sit down in the plane, I have to take a pill, put a little drink on top and try to control myself. The moment we take off, I start counting in my head, one by one, the first 60 seconds, the famous first 60 seconds that are statistically the most dangerous... And when that's over, then I start breathing. It's horrible! Do you understand why I panic when I realize at the last minute that I've forgotten Kiki at home?
Fortunately, so far I've always managed to stay in control, I've never cancelled a trip because of it, but it's getting worse and worse.

mrbb: So, are you more of a window person or a corridor person?
LC: I used to be a porthole pilot, to be able to keep control, make sure the wings didn't move too much... Now I'm more of an aisle pilot, to be freer. It's easier to flirt too!

mrbb: What's your travel tip?
LC: The Routard guide! It's really well done. On my last trips to Rome, Cuba, California and Tunisia, it was always very good advice.

mrbb: What's your next trip?
LC: The Maldives, normally in March. For the "island, white sand, stilts" aspect. For the luxury of being able to go out in the sun in the middle of winter.

mrbb: Your dream trip?
LC: Kyoto, Japan. I've been dreaming about it for years. I imagine myself in the Zen gardens, I want to see the Geishas putting on their make-up, go for a walk in nature, sleep in a riokan, eat raw fish... I tell myself that's where I'd like to get married.

mrbb: Finally, could you share with misterbandb.com users a photo taken during one of your recent trips?
LC: This is a photo I took last September, in Los Angeles.
