The Reveal

Near LGBTQ+ SceneCozyGreat for Fitness LoversInsta-WorthyCentral location

The room is in Zone 1 in a side street in the trendy and vibrant area of Shoreditch, full of independent cafes, restaurants, pubs, street markets and contemporary art, with several gay venues nearby. There are several gyms and spas within walking distance. It’s easy to walk to the financial area (the City) and the fintech hub of Old Street, and using the fast transport links, the River Thames and Soho (the main gay area) are within easy reach.

The room is in a modern two-bedroom maisonette. The front door to the property is on a quiet side street. It is not long, however, before you are right in the middle of the vibrant centre of Shoreditch.

The bedroom is located on the first floor, next to the bathroom. You will find a large wardrobe, desk and chair, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, clothes dryer, desk lamp, two bedside tables with drawers and a table lamp, television and electric radiator. Bedding, towels, shower gel and shampoo and fast wi-fi are provided.

In the room, there is a kitchenette area, with a fridge, small hob, combination microwave [microwave, grill and convection], crockery and cutlery, saucepans, chopping boards and other kitchen equipment.

The bathroom is shared with me, and I try to give you priority where possible. I'll be around for information about the local area, Shoreditch, and London in general. You will find me approachable and friendly.

Shoreditch is an arty and lively area. Young creatives and trendsetters fill the fashionable clubs and bars that surround Shoreditch High Street, Great Eastern Street, and Old Street, while an eclectic dining scene features everything from trendy chain restaurants and smart gastropubs to artisan coffee shops and noodle bars. Vintage and design shops are plentiful. There are several LGBTQ+ venues locally, such as the Queen Adelaide, accessible either on foot or a short bus ride away. LGBTQ+ bars, clubs and saunas locally in Dalston, plus in Soho, Vauxhall, Clapham and in other areas are easily accessible by Underground or bus.

Out of all the different activities to do and things to see in Shoreditch, checking out its street art is a must. There’s a ton of galleries and museums like the Brick Lane Gallery, but the highlights of London’s art scene are along streets like Brick Lane, Club Row, Bateman’s Row, Fashion Street and Bacon Street.

A lot of people venture to Shoreditch just to check out its many markets which always draw a huge crowd (especially on Sundays). The Old Spitalfields Market and the Old Brick Lane Market (both on Sundays) are not to be missed by any visitor to Shoreditch, and the Columbia Road Flower Market (Sundays) and Broadway Market (Saturdays) are a must-see as well.

But if there’s anything for certain in Shoreditch, the neighbourhood knows how to throw a good party. From circus-themed pubs to comic-book bars, Shoreditch boasts some of the most unique bars and popular nightclubs in London, such as the Village Underground, the Queen of Hoxton and The Princess of Shoreditch.

Shoreditch also has some of the best venues in the city showcasing everything from big-name artists to even up-and-coming indie bands from all over the world. The venues cover nearly every musical genre on the planet. If you want to watch an unforgettable music performance in Shoreditch, then you really can’t go wrong with venues like XOYO, The Blues Kitchen, Nightjar and Plastic People.

Host recommendations

You will be on the first floor and I will be on the ground floor. We share the front door and bathroom. You should always lock the front door with the key provided when you go out (if I am not at home) and, when you are in, leave your key on the side in the entrance hall near mine. Also, please close and lock your bedroom window when going out. There is a kitchenette in your room. You should wash up in the bathroom sink/wash basin. If you are on a longer stay, you may use the washing machine downstairs in the main kitchen by prior arrangement.

What a lovely find. It was well situated not far from Liverpool Street Station. Shane was away while I was staying for two nights, lucky he trusted me with his beautiful house. Great communication, easy to follow instructions. Great room, good size and amenities provided should you need them. Comfortable bed and overlooking his beautiful garden. Definitely be visiting London again

We had a wonderful stay at Shane's, and Shane was the perfect host. The room is well kitted out and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. Shane's place is in a quiet area despite being just a few minutes walk to the excitement of Shoreditch and Brick Lane. Shoreditch High Street station is also not far, and from there it's easy to get anywhere else in London. Shane is friendly and easy to communicate with. We can't wait to stay again!

Shane is a very welcoming and friendly host. The space is spotless and extremely well equipped. Fantastic location - good value for money for such a trendy neighbourhood, near to Brick Lane. Would strongly recommend.

I had an amazing two-day trip to London, and the room was incredible. I didn't even need a key because the door opens with a code, which was very convenient. The room was spotless and equipped with everything you could possibly need. I didn't use the kitchen equipment, but there was instant coffee available, so you could enjoy a cup as soon as you woke up. The bus connections are excellent, and there are plenty of places nearby for breakfast, as well as restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisines. Compared to hotel prices in London, the cost of the room was an absolute bargain. If I ever come back to London, this room would definitely be my first choice.

It was great visiting Shane a 2nd time, and just like before, Shane was very welcoming and kind. Amenities like microwave oven and fridge were also in my room so it was very convenient. Traveling around was a breeze too from Shane's place. Thank u for having me again

I had such a wonderful stay at Shane's place. He is so warm and welcoming. His place is amazing and close to so many bus stops that can take you anywhere you want to go in London. He helped me to pull down the city mapper app that gives you step by step instructions on how to get anywhere you want to go. We also did a pub crawl near Liverpool St station and explored a lot of architecture in the area. Shane is a great host. I look forward to seeing him again.

I had a fantastic stay in Shane's home. Shane was friendly, responsive, had some great stories to tell 😃 and went above and beyond with helpful advice on transport, restaurants, bars, and things to do. He also let me store my luggage after check out which I really appreciated as I had a late flight. Highly recommend staying here—I'd definitely come back!

Shane is an extremely kind, helpful, and attentive person, always available and ready to share useful information, making you feel truly at home. Everything is very well organized and communication is easy and pleasant. The house is located in Shoreditch, a vibrant and creative area full of things to do, perfect for anyone who loves London's nightlife, with clubs, music, restaurants, and everything close by, yet very well connected to the rest of the city. The room is very quiet, comfortable, and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a relaxing stay. I will definitely come back and highly recommend Shane not only as a host, but also as a person: reliable, kind, and genuinely special.

Shane has been a delightful host. Friendly, helpful and very respectful of his and his guest's privacy. We barely saw each other! (granted I was out all day). His appartement is super quiet and yet close to many restaurants, bars and transit. The City is a 20 minute walk away. The room is as described, no surprise. If I go back to London soon, I would love to stay at Shane's place again.
