Hi Guys!

Welcome to my much loved and unique traditional tenement home of 25 years. It's situated in a leafy quiet 1-way residential street with convenient frequent public transport connections to Edinburgh Airport, rail and bus stations, and Murrayfield Stadium. The City Centre and main attractions are just 10 minutes away by bus or tram or an easy 25 minute walk. The airport tram will bring you to within a trolley-bag friendly 5min walk of the flat too - less than an hour door-to-door!

My place is ideally suited for the single traveler, but there is room for 2 in the small and cosy 4' (1.2m) Queen bed... and 1 bedside table! If visiting as a couple then please bear this in mind before you request to book.

You will have exclusive use of the generously proportioned and quiet bedroom with modern en-suite shower. We'll share the separate WC, kitchen and comfortably cosy living room. There's a wide choice of breakfast and all-day dining available locally although cereals, muesli, pastries, fruit and beverages are, of course, always to hand. With prior notice you can make use of the kitchen too if you'd sooner eat in than out - and there's a large Tesco supermarket just round the corner!

Your sharing my home is part of your holiday homestay experience. It's your 24/7 base to come and go and explore from as you will, or a peaceful oasis to just cocoon with your feet up and read, relax, share some 'life tales' and to enjoy some genuine friendly company and hospitality.

I'm happy to answer any further questions - especially if there's 2 of you - but check all the info in the description, amenities, photos and my profile 1st of all - I don't think I've missed anything!

Hi Guys - and welcome! Despite appearances I'm very Scottish with a strong accent, and a wearer of kilts!! After 35 years spent in Design-related retail I'm now happily retired in Central Edinburgh - Leith - in my much loved home of almost 25 years. I'm a creative fella, working from my home studio mostly in glass and handcrafts, a keen amateur photographer and dabbler in Interior Design. As an experienced, relaxed and down-to-earth host, I'll respect your independence while being willing and available to help and support you throughout your stay. I'm passionate about Edinburgh and its environs, a passion I delight in sharing through long city walks, our free Galleries and Museums, local hospitality and secret hidden spots.... all that comes with being a 'local in the know'! Of course, I also enjoy an evening at home in new company with the feet up and enjoying a beer or a decent wine - all part of the unique and mutual experience that is MisterBandB!!

Within a 5-10 minute easy walk there are the colourful vibrant bars and all-day eateries of Leith Walk and Easter Road - everything from breakfast bakeries and cosy cafes to contemporary Michelin Fine Dining, authentic pizza, Tapas, Asian and traditional home fare. There's also a wealth of local and very 'Gay-friendly' Bars - some of whom host great free Live music! Edinurgh's Pink Triangle of Gay venues and sauna are a 15-20 min walk away or 10 mins by public transport. A wide variety of Gyms and pools are within 5-15mins away too. The flat is an easy and interesting 25min stroll to Princes Street, historic Holyrood, The Royal Mile and our tremendous free National Museums, Galleries and Cultural venues. 10 mins by foot in the other direction is the award winning waterside hospitality of Leith's Shore District. Even the seaside is less than a 30 minute walk away - or 10 minutes by bus!

I'd also be happy to share with you my passion and enthusiasm for Edinburgh, it's remarkable surroundings, some hidden secret places and by arrangement (for a couple of beers and some food while we're out), take time to guide you around and give you an insiders perspective on some of it's less well known but lovely spots!

No matter what the season, Leith itself is a photographers paradise - around every corner there's something magical and surprising, unique and thought provoking. It's also a creative's heaven with a comprehensive array of independent galleries, shops and accessible working studios. Come share and enjoy!

I had an amazing stay at Ken’s. He's so genuinely caring and goes above and beyond to ensure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We had lots of contact before my visit including info on transport options to and from the airport as the trams to Leith were temporarily off while I was there. Leith is a great part of central Edinburgh. Just a short walk from Ken's you have a wealth of bars, cafes and several Michelin restaurants, as well as Leith's own attractions including Leith Distillery and the Royal Yacht Britannia. The centre of Edinburgh is easily accessible by bus and tram, or a pleasant easy stroll up vibrant and cosmopolitan Leith Walk. The flat is amazing with a curated collection of paintings and objets d’art. A peaceful and creative space. The bedroom is very spacious and comfortable with topped-up supply of bottled water, biscuits and sweets. Ken has a great knowledge of Edinburgh - take his recommendations on places to visit and cool and very gay-friendly bars and restaurants! We also had the best time going to shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, with good food and bars to follow! I can’t recommend a stay with Ken highly enough!"

Ken is the perfect host!! He is an enthusiastic guide who shared some of his favorite local spots and hidden gems of Edinburgh with us. He was more than happy to help us get acquainted with the city. His flat is immaculate, wonderfully accommodating, and full of eclectic decor that reflects both his chic style and charming personality. The stay also was an incredible value to find during the Fringe festival and busy summer season. I'd book again in a heartbeat!

I had the pleasure of staying with Ken during my recent trip to Edinburgh. Before and throughout my visit, he was kind enough to answer questions and offer guidance about things to do. Ken also met me at the train station, helped me navigate the city over the course of my stay and was just an all around great host. His flat is exceptionally cozy and comfortable. I felt right at home! I would absolutely stay here again if I'm lucky enough to visit Edinburgh again.

We had a lovely stay. Ken was really kind and friendly and even came to collect us from the station. It was great to stay in Leith a part of Edinburgh we did not know so well.

Ken is born to be host of B&B. He is a genuine helper to satisfy what guests want. You can trust it from all of his previous guests' reviews. If you need any help about Edinburgh, shout it out. He will sincerely handle your journey. He maintains his house very tidy and clean. In fact, his house looks like a glass museum. But it doesn't give you the feeling that you wouldn't touch anything and mess it up. It gives you a good sense of sight. About transportation, through both bus and tram, you can easily get to tourist spots. Just book here if you're bound for Edinburgh.

Ken was a great host. Although i arrived early in the morning from a red eye flight, Ken met me at the tram to show me the way to his place. In the afternoon, he offered to accompany me on a tour of the city pointing out various sites, and then had a nice homemade chicken and vegetable soup for dinner. During my 5 days stay, Ken ensured I was comfortable while he was a bit under the weather. It was a great stay for my first time in Edinburgh.

He is a very pleasant person, in love with his city and always willing to help. The location is wonderful, there are all the facilities very close by. The apartment and the room have that special touch that makes you feel like at home.
