This cozy, economical apartment is located in a small, 8-unit building on the second floor (one flight of steps). You enter into the living area with a sitting area, dining area, and well-equipped kitchen (refrigerator, cooktop, microwave, coffee maker, blender, electric kettle, dishes, cooking essentials). To the left is a full bathroom and spacious bedroom with a king sized bed. There, you will find the air conditioning unit, USB outlets, and plenty of closet space. Sheets, blankets, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, paper towels and drinking water are all provided.

This apartment is in the center of the building which means it is very quiet, but also quite dark. There is a large interior windows in the living area. If you plan to primarily use the apartment to relax, rest from the beach or from a night out clubbing, then this is the perfect space for you!

You can always liven things up as guests are always welcome! You'll find that other guests and residents of the building are also here to meet people and have fun!

I am a former professional classical musician and professor of music. I sang with the Grammy award winning men's vocal ensemble for 10 years and served as their music director for 3 years. After leaving the road, I led choirs and taught conducting at Texas State University, the University of Nebraska, and Shenandoah Conservatory. I co-founded a summer masters degree program in choral conducting at Simpson College where I continue to teach. I have been fortunate enough to have visited 49 of the United States (only missing Montana) and 45 countries. I fell in love with Puerto Vallarta during my first visit in 2004 and visited several times a year before finally moving here full time in 2022. I live in the building and am always available to help guests with anything they might need or any questions they might have. My nickname is "La alcandesa de Vallarta " ("The Mayoress of Vallarta"). So, there's that... :)

The apartment is located in the heart of Zona Romantica. Within 2-3 blocks, you will find all of the most popular LGBTQ+ bars and clubs including: Industry, CC Slaughters, Paco's Ranch, Corner Bar, La Noche, Mr. Flamingo's, Studs, Diablitos, Kooky Karaoke, Reina's, Divas, 69, Wet Dreams, Spartacus, etc. The famous gay beach, Playa Los Muertos, is a pleasant 15 minute walk (no hills!). There, you will find the the most popular gay beach clubs: Mantamar, Ritmos and Sapphire. There are too many restaurants to list - everything from haut cuisine (Tre Piatti, ICU, El Palomar) to PV's famous street tacos (La Hormiga, La Tia Pera). The beautiful Rio Cuale is just a block away where you will find a bustling market during the day and candle lit dinners at night. There is a traveler's pharmacy on the ground floor of the building where you can get all the medications your doctor won't prescribe and a Farmacia Guadalajara (think Walgreens or CVS) just a block away. The main entrance to the building and the door to the apartment both have safe and secure digital locks (no need to worry about losing keys!). There are no security guards sticking their noses in your business, and so long as you are respectful of the other tenants in the building, you and your "guests" can come and go as you please.

This place was just what I needed! Exactly as described - stumbling distance from the night life but quiet and quaint enough to feel like a retreat. Matt was super helpful and had great suggestions throughout my stay. I'd definitely stay again!

My second stay in the apartment, and it was perfect again Just feet from the gayest street I've seen; any thing you ever needed is at hand. And a few things you didn't know you needed until you found them here This place is clean and a quiet oasis Matt checked in to make sure all was well; he can answer ANY question you have. Because of a fortuidous event, I also go to stay in #4, a large two bedroom unit in the building. Perfect Absolutely beautiful with a small patio. Rent with Matt!

My experience with Matt and La Puerta Blanca was positive from the time I made the reservation until check out. First of all, Matt is very friendly and knows Puerto Vallarta well. He was always available to answer questions, but provided privacy at all times. Check in and check out were easy; Matt provided excellent instructions to facilitate self-check in. The description in the listing are accurate. The location is extremely close to the gay scene. Grocery stores and pharmacies are plentiful. The neighborhood is lively and bustling, but the bedroom can be made perfectly silent simply by closing the door. There's hot water and good water pressure. The city was extremely warm and humid—I'm thankful that the air conditioner is quite effective at its job. I will definitely return.
