I am a former professional classical musician and professor of music. I sang with the Grammy award winning men's vocal ensemble for 10 years and served as their music director for 3 years. After leaving the road, I led choirs and taught conducting at Texas State University, the University of Nebraska, and Shenandoah Conservatory. I co-founded a summer masters degree program in choral conducting at Simpson College where I continue to teach. I have been fortunate enough to have visited 49 of the United States (only missing Montana) and 45 countries. I fell in love with Puerto Vallarta during my first visit in 2004 and visited several times a year before finally moving here full time in 2022. I live in the building and am always available to help guests with anything they might need or any questions they might have. My nickname is "La alcandesa de Vallarta " ("The Mayoress of Vallarta"). So, there's that... :)

The apartment is located in the heart of Zona Romantica. Within 2-3 blocks, you will find all of the most popular LGBTQ+ bars and clubs including: Industry, CC Slaughters, Paco's Ranch, Corner Bar, La Noche, Mr. Flamingo's, Studs, Diablitos, Kooky Karaoke, Reina's, Divas, 69, Wet Dreams, Spartacus, etc. The famous gay beach, Playa Los Muertos, is a pleasant 15 minute walk (no hills!). There, you will find the the most popular gay beach clubs: Mantamar, Ritmos and Sapphire. There are too many restaurants to list - everything from haut cuisine (Tre Piatti, ICU, El Palomar) to PV's famous street tacos (La Hormiga, La Tia Pera). The beautiful Rio Cuale is just a block away where you will find a bustling market during the day and candle lit dinners at night. There is a traveler's pharmacy on the ground floor of the building where you can get all the medications your doctor won't prescribe and a Farmacia Guadalajara (think Walgreens or CVS) just a block away. The main entrance to the building and the door to the apartment both have safe and secure digital locks (no need to worry about losing keys!). There are no security guards sticking their noses in your business, and so long as you are respectful of the other tenants in the building, you and your "guests" can come and go as you please.

Matt's place is right in the heart of Zona Romántica—2–3 blocks from the clubs, with tons of taco stands right downstairs. The location couldn't be better. Matt was communicative and very helpful throughout the stay. Highly recommend this place and would definitely stay here again on my next visit!

Matt's place was perfect for our visit to PV. The location is unbeatable, the unit was comfortable, and his efforts as host were much appreciated. Obviously this is a very different experience from one of the massive and cost-prohibitive beachfront resorts. If you want a more budget-friendly option that allows you to choose your own adventure throughout your visit, there is no better option than La Puerta Blanca. We look forward to returning!

Absolutely perfect location in the heart of Zona Romantica. Everything was a few minutes walk to all the fun bars, clubs and food stands. Walking to the gay friendly beaches was under 15 minutes. The unit itself is quite spacious and Matt was a fantastic host who was very communicative. Highly recommend this place to anyone who is visiting PV for their first time (like us) or those that want to be in the heart of it all. Will definitely be staying here at our next visit.

We stayed here for the full weekend (Thu-Mon) and had a great experience. Matt was super communicative and supportive. His hospitality went up and beyond to make us feel as comfortable as possible. He offered several tips and recommendations. Great value for money and super convenient location!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect location for my trip. It's in the middle of everything and I didn't need a taxi for my entire time there. I was a little worried about what the noise level would be but it was a quiet retreat as stated in the description. I'm a light sleeper but had no issues whatsoever with noise preventing sleep, not to mention the very comfy bed! Finally, I can't speak highly enough of Matt's communication. Not only was he very proactive with his communication but also incredibly responsive. I had a fantastic stay!
