Gay Guide Paris

Paris Gay Pride: June 25 - 27, 2026
Written by
May 17 2026

I have been to Paris more times than I can count and it remains the city I recommend first, every time, without hesitation. Gay Paris is not a neighbourhood or a festival - it is a permanent state. Le Marais is arguably the most beautiful gay neighbourhood in the world, built into the medieval heart of the 4th arrondissement, where Haussmann never got to regularise the streets and the buildings still lean in over the cobblestones. But gay Paris extends far beyond Le Marais - it runs through Pigalle and the cabarets, through the Seine on a summer evening, through the terraces of Saint-Germain where nobody cares who you are holding hands with. France legalised same-sex marriage in 2013 but Paris had already been living that reality for decades. The city ranks #1 on misterb&b among all destinations worldwide - 229 LGBTQ+ venues documented, more than any other city on earth. Come for a weekend and you will start planning your return before you leave. 🏳️‍🌈 The LGBTQ+ infrastructure here - the associations, the health services, the political organisations, the media - is among the most developed in the world, and the community operates at a scale and sophistication that reflects Paris's position as the number one destination on misterb&b globally. The Marais in summer, with the terraces full and the streets alive until late: it is one of the great urban experiences available to a gay traveller anywhere. For gay-hosted stays and the full community guide, misterb&b Paris is the definitive starting point.

Le Marais: Paris's legendary gay district

"Friday night: start at Vendredix for VendrediX sur Seine, a great LGBTQ+ outdoor afterwork by the Seine. A few drinks at sunset, DJ sets, new people and that atmosphere where the Parisian night seems to officially begin. Saturday: stroll through Le Marais, coffee on a terrace, some culture and then some drinks in one of the gay bars in the neighborhood before going out to dance. Sunday: relaxed afternoon at Rosa Bonheur Buttes Chaumont, probably my favorite place to wind down."

"- Friday evening, the VendrediX on Seine, on the quays with a magnificent view. To have a few drinks with friends. - Saturday, clubbing at Nouveau Casino for the Less Drama More Techno party - Sunday, a dip in the Halles swimming pool... always very well frequented, before a movie at the nearby UGC. Or if the weather permits, a sunbathing session in the naturist area of Bois de Vincennes."

Paris beyond Le Marais

Gay Paris rewards exploration beyond the 4th arrondissement. Pigalle and South Pigalle (SoPi) have developed a vibrant mixed scene over the past decade - bohemian bars, natural wine shops, and restaurants that attract a creative, queer-friendly crowd. Saint-Germain-des-Pres remains one of the world's great neighbourhoods for simply being - the cafes, bookshops, and galleries still function, and same-sex couples are entirely unremarkable on Boulevard Saint-Germain or in the Jardin du Luxembourg. The Louvre, the Musee d'Orsay, and the Centre Pompidou give Paris a cultural density that has no equal. And the Seine, particularly at night when the bateaux mouches light up the bridges, is simply one of the great pleasures of any city on earth.

LGBTQ+ stays in Paris

Le Marais is the natural base for LGBTQ+ travelers - central, safe, walkable to the Louvre and the Seine, with metro connections everywhere. The adjacent Republique and Bastille neighbourhoods offer more space and slightly lower prices with easy access to Le Marais on foot. For gay-hosted apartments with genuine local knowledge, misterb&b Paris lists stays throughout the city. Browse also gay hotels in Paris. For Pride week, start looking 3 to 4 months ahead. Gay traveler's tip

France has comprehensive LGBTQ+ legal protections - same-sex marriage since 2013, anti-discrimination law covering employment, housing and services. "My perfect gay weekend in Paris? 🌈✨ Start with brunch on a terrace in the Marais, stroll through galleries, bookstores and small cobblestone streets, then enjoy an aperitif at COX to watch the neighborhood come to life. In the evening, dinner at a beautiful Parisian restaurant before continuing the night between the bars of the Marais and a few hours on the dance floor. The next day, a walk along the Seine, lunch with friends, a sunset at Rosa Bonheur sur Seine"

"Freedj, Les Marronniers, Madame Brasserie at +1 of the Eiffel Tower, but also le rendez-vous, with its terrace. The café comédie club is pretty good too, just next to the Marais and next to Beaubourg"

"My perfect gay weekend in Paris would start pretty simply: terrace drinks on Friday night around Bastille or the Marais, no real plan, just seeing where the night goes. Saturday would be a mix of lazy daytime Paris — coffee, walking around, maybe a picnic by the Seine — and then a proper night out. If it's Thursday or Saturday, definitely starting at Chez Mylène because it's easy to meet people there and the vibe feels really spontaneous."

"Start your Saturday by exploring cafés and boutiques in Le Marais, and enjoy some people-watching along Rue des Archives. In the evening, have dinner nearby, then check out the Marais gay bars before heading to a club night. On Sunday, take things slower with brunch in or near the Marais, stroll over to Place des Vosges, and visit Rosa Bonheur Buttes-Chaumont for a relaxed but lively queer-friendly park atmosphere. Finish your weekend with a casual aperitif back in the Marais or by the Seine."

"A weekend in Paris starts with a stroll through the Latin Quarter and the Saint Germain des prés neighborhood! You must visit the Saint Sulpice church, take a tour at Bon marché, and then cross the Île de la Cité and Île Saint Louis. You arrive near the town hall and the gay quarter. A tour through the Marais is a must, with its beautiful historic mansions. Walk down rue Sainte Croix de la Bretonnerie, the Halle des blancs manteaux, and end at Place des Vosges!"

"Friday 7pm, apéro at a terrace on rue Montorgueil, the street is alive by then and you don't need a plan. Dinner somewhere in the Marais, nothing fancy, just good food and a crowd you'll enjoy watching. Then Freedj around 10pm and The Cox after. Saturday: late brunch at Café de Flore, yes it's touristy, but it's also genuinely beautiful on a sunny morning and the eggs are perfect. Walk it off through Saint-Germain, then drift back to the Marais for the evening."
